Yesterday someone told me that my rune was duplicated, I once found out that every article has a code, is that possible?
I doubt there is a way to tell that from within the game. There is even no legal way to find out ilvl. I believe it’s either someone trying to pull a fast one and rip you off if you’re trying to sell, or someone having a little joke.
All items have an id, if an item is duplicated via a dupe mecanism at next server check one will disapear - to be sure (if the rune was traded) you can perm the rune by socketing it, it will generate a new id
If every item has an ID linked to an account it won’t be possible to dupe.
Originally items were just items. When duping came along it took a while for Blizzard to implement the Item ID system. Basically when items drop they’re assigned an ID number. When you dupe that item the server will delete the duplicate because the duped thing has an identical ID, it doesn’t get a brand new one. The only work arounds for it was to dupe runes to make runewords with because making the runeword makes a brand new item, meaning a brand new ID. There’s no way to tell in game whether something is legit or not. It’s why Unid items became high in demand once duping ruined the scene. It also tanked the rune economy. Items were suddenly worth twenty, thirty, or forty HRs. Of course there was no guarantee that the item itself wasn’t duped. It was one real big crap show.
