Did they kill the game?

While this remaster seems ok, did the same as with warcraft3 happen?

Games up are 20-50 minutes dead, refresh not working, chat in game shows gametag, impossible to know who types, etc etc

I play d2 since release, did many ladders, and i find it hard to believe that 3 days after ladder start there is no anything-runs in hell difficulty.
Both diablo2 before remaster and projectdiablo2 (yeah i know) had games refreshing all the time

Do i need to use discord and other 3rd party software for everything game related, or is it just dead?

Yep lobbies are still :poop: that’s why those who want to group farm and stuff do it via discord forums and the game is indeed dead, thanks to d2jsp existing and forumgold rmting and blizzard not doing anything about it for 20 years now.

what do you expect? this game had its time, it was a masterpiece at its time, I play it also back in 2000s. but now players want something more, and there are much more options than in 2000s.
the lack of end-game kill this game. ladder? first to 99? what’s this, who eat 99 sousages in less time? come on man, this ladder leaderboard based on who came first to 99 is pathetic. there is nothing clever behind but just to play 24/24 in the first days of ladder.

Diablo Immortal will come to PC in 2nd June, this I think will be the final hit to D2R.
D2R to be able to compete with new aRPGs will need an end-game(e.g. D3 style, Greater Rifts with difficulty levels and leaderboards), BUT, for tthis game to have that it need a re-design of many game aspects, and this will not happen, Blizzard/Microsoft will not invest more money in this game.

Apparently there’s a HUGE load of bots running around, so it might explain why there’s few games.
Also the loading times are annoying when you’ve been used to play D2 LOD for so many years. Having to wait several seconds to go from a waypoint to another, and just to change act is frustrating, especially when you want to MF.

Pretty sure ladder on EU is dead… they obviously don’t give a s… about EU servers or players.

Just f… off you idiot… your takes are so f… stupid and you are only here to talk s… Seriously not a single person here take you serious or give a s… about what you write anyway… You are waste of space and time dude.

but why you always are afraid of end-game? are you weak at end-games right? what is maximum grift level you di in D3? 100? :)) you are soo weak. but no problem, you can create a support character(actually you will be a merc for me), and I will level you up. seriously, I can help you with your weakneness and your fears. the same for D2R, do not be afraid if they add new content and an end-game, I will help you to adapt to it. are you afraid that you will not be able to adapt right? I will help you, I will make you my merc and I will show you the way. so, do not be afraid!

its especially mind boggling how an ingame chat in 2022 can be this buggy.

agree that lobby system is busted and it needs to be acknowledged. it makes the game look completely dead already when the playerbase is actually quiet big.

no it is not. Ladder is played by ~30000 players, and maybe another 10000 still play non-ladder, that is very low player base.

this might be a generational difference but, having 50k people playing a basically 20 year old game is, in my book, quite big, active and surprisingly so!

by your own estimate the game would rank top 20 in the steam active player ranking.

you missunderstood the Steam data:
|Current Players|Peak Today|Game|
|90,821|431,607|PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS|

this not means PUBG has 90000 players in total, those number means “how many play now” and “maximum number of players today”
When I said D2R has a total player baqse of ~40k means all players that played the game in last month even if they played few hours in total, e.g. lot of ladder players just started a ladder char and played few days.

Game is dead because 3rd world people (yea, blah, take your p. correctness for a walk) botting 24/7 and selling it to western nolifers who have nothing in life than showing off in an online game. It’s a vicious, self-sustaining cycle that ruins it for everyone else.

You can’t even blame the 3rd world botters, they just use everyting available to make it through life, like when their passport is so trash that they can’t even physically get into a first world country to do real work there. It’s the people creating the demand.

Absolutely agree.

It’s a nice memory with a lot of nostalgia, but it’s already obsolete.

You sound like you have some serious issues, unrelated to this game and are just looking for an excuse to start a rant about 3rd world people. Did you lose your crappy job to some 3rd world immigrant or something?

The game is dead for me because somebody else is getting items easier? It has nothing to do with my game, i can play just fine the way i want.

You know that you’re talking garbage, just to make an argument. They destroy the fun in every online game, because selling a virtual item to some nolife guy in the states or the EU gets them more than they could earn the whole week. They screw the economy in every online game they can make their way into and they turn every online game into pseudo p2w.

If you can’t comprehend this system then it’s not my fault. That’s why paid korean and japanese online games are geoblocked, to within-country IP adresses, to not lose their domestic audience due to trivialization of the game.

But Bli$$ard is not gonna do that.

yeah its all messed up, full of bots i saw a guy last days with full inv of ber …

No, botters did. As usual.

The game finder is as crappy as the original
I can’t believe they didn’t make it easier for us to find games.

What you say is mostly functionally true, but it isnt a remake and that was the intention. If you change too many things then a game loses what everyone originally loved about it. Happy that they left it mostly intact.
