grind some levels and then take him out? or go lobby and kill it together?

Thawing potions for cold resist and to get unfrozen so I didn’t attack so slow. Mana potions to resummon wolves on him over and over, Amazon partner running around far away hitting him with arrows as he chased me.
Had no deaths or returns to town on Duriel at level 20/21, but obviously having two players helped because we could take turns having him chase us while the other attacked him until he switched his aggro.
Solo with a ranged character kiting him is essential. You might have to keep going back to town to bring back your merc to tank him for you. Shift and potion buttons to feed your merc thawing and health potions helps. Luckily all D2 AI is bad at hitting moving targets, so you can run from Duriel and lob a few javelins in whenever he pauses for a second.
He is probably easiest with the sorceress (just run away with blaze on) and hardest with the necromancer (summons die right away, bone spear with one point has pretty awful damage).
Duriel and Diablo in normal are the hardest fights of the game. Once you’re fully skilled out the game, for better or worse, becomes about gear. Either you have the gear to progress, or you hit walls. So enjoy the challenge now since both are beatable with bad characters just by running away a lot and taking pot shots since they don’t heal super fast.

Duriel is doable at normal even with a sorceress. But it’s still a pain. I also died one time. Then I called my friends. But I managed to get him to at least 50% and survived longer, than I thought.
A realy good solution (and probably needed for NM+) is an “freezing not possible”-item.
Glass-cannons still need somthing to do about the melee-attacks of him, however…
So, yes, I hate him, too.
Sorceress with Blaze. She literally just follows you around and burns to death.
As for everyone else, yeah, she’s a pain.

Hm. I always considered this a male name… But on second thought, it also might be a female one. (But imho, it sounds much like male angel-names.)

If you’re a weak build, just keep making TPs and run to get pots lol I often do it with a soso on normal because he’s pretty fast and you can’t tp around endlessly at the beginning of the game and I’m usually doing it on SP /3 minimum.
Did it solo with a Lvl 21 selffound amazon. Just throw in a bunch of potions for cold resist and feed your merc with it too. Do this before you enter the chamber. While fighting feed your merc with healing potions wiht shift-1/4. Don’t forget to make a TP immediately

I pushed my char to lv24 and switched from using a joypad to be conventional with keyboard and mouse. He died at my 2nd last potion in the 4th slot, almost.
Always Bank your money before any boss fight (just in case), ensure you are packing Cold Resist and thaw potions and get your level up one or two before you start the fight.
gawd… try necro summoner >.< he is even worse lol, i lost count how many times i went to summon skellies. Funny enough…a necro summoner, in nightmare, boss in act1-2-3 is so easy lol. but annoying as hell in Normal
AFIK thaw potions don’t work against him.
I entered Duriels chambaer as a bone Necromancer and only had golem and a mercenary. I got killed during the loading time. When the screen finally popped up, i was lying dead on the floor. Happened on SC, but i am also playing HC and this scares me a lot.
They should build in a invulnerablemode for chars that enter doors or use WPs until they perform their first action.
I hate duriel.

I used that Sorc Blaze that leaves a trail of fire at your feet when you run, then I just ran around the outside of the room with him following me dying on the trail…20 laps later Sorc 1 Duriel 0! It dosent get much more heroic than this.
You wanna try Static Field vs bosses. One skill point is all it takes and Duriel melts in about 3 seconds. Leave that hit and run marathon for amazons
