So I only tried to go Baal twice and it crashed on second wave every time. No error msg nothing. Straight to windows. I have noticed that there could be some graphics issues as some of the areas of monsters get black squares/polygons around them. I play Hammerdin build no enigma but all the other skills are same.
Update: So it randomly crashes in different areas. Now I am not sure if it is when you kill elites and they have cold explosion. But my last game I have noticed than my mercenary, wearing Fortitude, had his chilling armor on him and when too many projectiles hit him at the same time and they are about to bounce from him the game crashes right away. I never had this issue before and I’ve got RTX graphics with latest drivers. Please fix this as I can’t even finish one run without game crashing. How I suppose to farm anything in this game. This is not fun at all tbh

I have the same issue with my frenzy barb…
Same issue here on my 83 hammerdin. I crashed 3 times in a row, the game will hard freeze for 6 or 7 seconds, then a few frames will come through and crash to desktop. I could only make it up to wave 3 and my crashes were always on wave 2 or 3 with and noticed all had lightning enchanted affixes.
I tried repairing my installation it’s fine. Searching online shows a lot of results for this the past few months.
I’m an HC player normally so this is worrisome, solo play = no Baal. Group content only for throne room until this gets fixed please!
This problem did not exist for me pre-ladder when I did a lot of farming Baal as a group.
Thankfully I am just tinkering around on SC during these crashes because I lost my merc and it felt bad I had to ask someone to babysit the game and help me pass the waves.
I7-11800, RTX 3080, 16GB RAM, SSD, no thermals, artifacting, or FPS issues. In otherwords, overspec’ed rig for this.
Ah there is a fix for this… let me look it up real quick. I had the same Problem with Shenk having too many effects, one option and the problem is gone.
I think it was “set VFX Lighting Quality to Low” that fixed all crashing issues, but I’ll need to google to confirm. It’s gotta be, bc the rest is on ultra x)
EDIT: I can confirm, I can recreate crashes when i turn it back on, and the stop when i turn it off again. Hopefully it helps.

Yes, I can confirm this does fix the issue on some lesser graphics cards, also check how much Vram D2r is using up as this can severely slow your system down if it’s at 100%.
I have a 2060 super and don’t have this issue, but my klan friends had this and once lowered it worked a treat
