Hi Blizzard. I’m very happy about the remaster, Vicarious Visions has done a great job on all fronts. The changes that let all players experience all content are a particularly nice touch. (Nothing is ladder-only, killing cow king doesn’t lock you out, etc.) There might be some small gameplay issues and bugs, but I have faith that you’ll get them sorted out whenever you’re done with the tasks that have higher priority (such as server stability.)
But what about that Standard of Heroes? I’d like to see an expansion of the end-game content. Could the Standard make all the monsters you approach on Hell difficulty scale up to level 99 when you have it in your inventory? Or perhaps open a portal to a repeatable area sorta like the Cow Level, but instead it’s a procedurally generated dungeon that spawns random mobs whose stats scale up the deeper you go until you inevitably get beaten? Just to see how far people’s end-game builds can go, it doesn’t have to drop any loot. To go to the next level of the dungeon you’d have to clear the current level; maybe using the same sort of code as the Den of Evil which detects how many monsters are left?
And what about the chickens in the rogue encampment? I thought I’d bully the chickens until I got punished for it (just like in Legend of Zelda), but even though I expected nothing, I was a bit disappointed when that’s what I got: Nothing. Being bored, I tried running over every chicken in record time, in different orders, all sorts of things to see if I could trigger a secret related to the chickens. Then I saw MrLlamaSC did a “chicken push” video where he pushed a chicken all the way from the base to the monastery graveyard. Could any of this please inspire you to create an Uber Chicken secret? Like, you push one inside the graveyard and it automatically starts walking towards the center, then a burning pentagram appears beneath it as it turns into the Uber Chicken boss… maybe? The loot could just be generic boss loot and runes, with a tiny chance to drop the Annihilus charm. Nothing that tilts the game out of balance, it’s just for fun.
Looking forward to more tweaks and fixes and whatever else you’ve got in store!
