[idea] D2R unique items upgrades revolution

make upgraded unique items more viable in hell

[rule]
Each upgrade from normal unique item to exception unique item
and each upgrade from exceptional unique item to elite unique item

grands
+100% Enhanced Damage for weapons, multiplies added elemental damage by 2,
and +100% Enhanced Defense for armor.

[reason]
Increases potential to use an unique item for a long time, by making an item effective at hell difficulty and an item choice.

[example]
For example, I have found Dimoak’s Hew at lvl 25. Instead of throwing it away instantly after identifing I am using Ral+Sol+Perfect Emerald to exceptional type with extra ed, and later I can decide to use Lum+Pul+Perfect Emerald if I do not have for example a Bonehew yet.

No point giving suggestions. This game is not in active development, if youd play the game youd know this?
They will never return fully to the game as there is no money in it. This, just like original diablo 2, both are bot infested and dupe infested garbage without any fixes in sight. Before they do anything else, they would need to fix the rampant botting issue at least.

Uniques and Set items mostly are garbage. Compared to the other diablo games, set and uniques are much more involved. In d2 you want mostly runewords combined with rare / unique / set depending on your needs.
If they would allow upgrades to uniques to improve them, it would require so much work and balancing every god damn item in the game to work with it. Too much work, you aint getting it.

There are many approach to playing this game.

Somebody will make fast 85 level in one day with tele and baalruns.
Somebody will make a single character and go with it for whole ladder.
Somebody will make a single character to collect specific items to his main character.
Somebody will play also but will trade everything.
Somebody will not play ladder at all.
etc. etc. etc.

This change allows to use any normal and exceptional unique item for a longer period of time, and for some people until the end of ladder.

The change is simple to implement, and does not affect end game much, so you do not need to balance any item with that approach.

I do consider that suggestion also as a Quality of Life change, that will improve game much for some players.

it would just make the game to easy, endgame items wouldnt be valuable anymore if a crap normal/exceptional easy to find become as strong as stuff that require HRS or like coa/griffon etc etc, drop rate wouldnt mean shit anymore you would pretty much do a walk threw, double up all your unique after couple hell countess and you’re char would be gg?

im ok with it not booosting any stats along the upping process.

imo, adding couple elite items and runewords would do it, and re-work the super rare items such as tyrael to be more powerfull according to how rare it is and how useless it is, unless i find it day one i will not use it, and finding tyrael on reset is not something to consider :joy:

pretty much thoses ‘‘updates’’ that you suggest would kill the rewarding feeling d2 gives you when you find something big for your build or worth alot which you can trade for something else, it would kill the economy, i mean the game is easy enough already, why would you want to power boost every single uniq items?

your suggestions would only kill importants core aspects which make this game so great. i bet you play softcore aswell?

Yes, nowadays I am playing softcore and mainly alone.
If you are interested I like to play a melee druid, but for years, if I am making any I first need to find at least Bonehew.

Currently I am playing without expansion and have a comparison how it differ from normal game.

I have not found any unique item that would be gg, but etheral Headstriker would be stronger, and Blade Of Ali Baba usable.
There is one that after double upgrade looks godly Bonesnap, but without any IAS.

The idea in my proposal I think is valid and refreshing.
