Insight polearm

Hello. Newbie summoner Necromancer here.

I just beat normal and startet Nightmare. I found a 4 socketed polearm, and i was thinking about using it for Insight runeword. But i was wondering, if there is any minimum requirements for the polearm, like minimum damage etc. to make it viable? Like life steal etc, before making the Runeword?

It’s just a simple “War Scythe” 15-36 damage 80 str 80 dex requirement fast attack speed.

Insight is primarely used for the meditation aura, unless youre already in hell and end game equip your merc, the base doesnt matter that much.

Thanks so in other words, i should go ahead with the polearm i found?

Sure, the runes for insight arent expensive either

If this is your first Charakter Sol rune can be some what rare at the end of normal / start of nightmare and you might want to use the rune for “Lore” (Helm OrtSol) first.

Yea, he can do some countess runs in NM, sol should drop pretty frequently.

Yes, she is a greate source for some of the basic runewords.
But i depends if you want to farm in early nightmare often you there is no need progress wise.

I do have the sol rune already from somewhere, but i don’t have a 2 socketed helmet for my necromancer

dump first insight in any white 4os polearm, if you at some point find an exceptional/elite base, especially when eth and its 4 os or you hit 4 with cube. just make a new insight.

Insight is made of runes you will consider as trash when you played the game for longer than 8hours (that is if you play efficiently)

Sorry if im being slow here, but does it matter if its white or gray (the one i got is gray)?

non magic/rare/unique
not having more sockets than the rw requires
Correct basetype. Eg polearm for insight
those are the only requirements to build ANY rw
-edit-
+Correct rune order

I did the same thing. Threw an Insight into the first 4 slot polearm I found. I kind of regret it. My Merc had a beast of a weapon with a ton of Lifesteal, and no other option for Lifesteal. After I gave him Insight, he died constantly, which defeated the purpose.

I fixed this by building him a Treachery (instead of a Stealth), which seems to keep him alive. If you can;t do that, you will almost certainly need to use the Merc bug to “bug him out” so he cannot be attacked by melee, then he will almost never die and can use a crappy Insight.

Good tip. Currently my merc isn’t really dying, but i’m only in act 1 NM.

Why would you give your merc Stealth? Isn’t that for casters? Sure the faster run/walk might help cause he’s slow af, but otherwise?

Oh and i don’t really have that much of a nice weapon on him. He’s got a cubed polearm but no life steal on it, and no slots.

25% Hit Recovery and some Poison resist, I guess. It was on a defence 180 item so was better than anything else I had.

At low lvl or better said mid game/leveling, just give him any big +xx life armor and helmet and insight, should work fine till hell.

When u enter hell, hes pretty useless without proper gear anyways.

Then its time to aim for some %LL and a good base for insight/obedience or infinity, when you can effort. Treachery/Smoke are pretty good armors for him to start of.

Shaftstop/Duriels Shell/Guardian Angel would work fine to at the beginning.

While insight does provide a lot of QoL, it hardly gives you anything, it is somewhat worth it if you for example just farm meph, get a bad base, insight it so he doesnt kill dolls, then you just tele meph and moat him.

Insight can be circumvented by mana pots, so its not good, it just feels good
