I’m new to Diablo 2 and i was looking to get a Infinity Rune word for my merc. It says it will help me with the Lightning resist monsters. At the same time, the guides online state that Infinity Rune word is ladder only item? But there is no ladder in the game currently.
Can i still get Ininity from playing the game online in it’s current state?

There is no limitation in D2R, so you can get Ladder only runewords in online and offline modes.
It will take a while though 
1- inifinity is useless.
2- because the level 25 aura conviction is broken even on paladins, mines capped a-150 all resists and it doesnt break any immunities. this capped is reached at level 25 so a level 13 aura wont do anything
3- there is no reason for ladder since everything related to ladder was added to non ladder mode thanks to karens, gen z and kevins.
4- blizzard is not going to fix the game they dont care about it
What do you mean? Infinity actually breaks light immunes. Maybe not all of them (don’t have one to test myself), but Pit, Chaos - it breaks those

Yes, with infinity lighning damage builds can kill ligthning immunes. I use it with my trapsin.

You saying Infinity is useless shows how much you know about this game: shit.
Resistance-lowering spells that are capable of breaking immunities, only work at 1/5 of their capacity when breaking such immunities, so any monster with a res of 120 or higher won’t get their immunity broken.
Also, appart from the conviction aura, Infinity has a -45/55 lower lightning foe’s resistance.

What is wrong here is you saying Infinity is useless.
Depends on ones playstyle, If you are playing solo and doing your own thing, the meta rune words might not be the best for you, as they require a specific build, aswell as the intention of playing with other people. If you like the stats of something, go for it. And yes as they stated already, D2R has no ladder-only runewords, they made those available for offline o normal online play. The guides are old.
bro stop trying to go d3 in d2, every build is meant to be played with solo and group in mind. if youre stupid enough to try to seperate the youre an idiot of the highest class!
