after playing the amazone for a long time, I think it’s a bit “unfair” (as far as the inventory space and magic gem is concerned) that she constantly has to take arrows and bolts with her.
i thought for a long time whether it would be a massive intervention in the game if you omitted the arrows and bolts or not.
on the one hand YES because it is simply part of it, on the other hand NO because as a bow amazon you are always at a disadvantage compared to other classes and other skills. therefore i would be happy if it is considered whether one should rather remove the arrows and bolts from the game.
then you would not be at a disadvantage compared to everything else because you save the arrow slot in the inventory OR for me, it would also be ok if you had your own small inventory for arrows or you could stack them to 9999.
I’d like to see ammo removed. It adds NOTHING to the game. The net effect is Amazon gets one item slot (kinda), and perhaps 2 inventory spaces, less than every other class. It is functionally equivalent to that.
I would rather they get rid of regular bolts and quivers and replaced them with unique sets of quivers and bolts for both uniques and set items to give them a much needed boost in power. I don’t know why bows are so weak in this game, even staffs have +4 to skills to compensate for the loss of the off hand and sorcs do way more damage than any bowazons.
Your statement is a double negative. Most players find quivers and bolts a nuisance since it’s not part of their class. It’s just taking up precious real estate on the floor. A quiver takes up 3 slots which is equivalent to one torch charm and 1 anni charm which provides a lot of power to all classes.
it seems to me, that everyone in this thread, is forgetting that the difference between D2R and the original game, is only cosmetic. It it like nobody here paid attention to any of the dev blogs, that explained, in detail, that D2R is the original game, just with an improved graphics overlay.
Why do you think that the same problems, that were in D2 for the past 15 years, haven’t been corrected? if you think that it is because of lazy dev’s, you should think again, untill the truth hits you in the face like a hammer.
When you have those things, you also have the best of the best charms you can buy. That means, all your resist charms are at max potential, same with HP and MF charms, if you havce any of those. (unless you totally suck at setting up your character)
if you can’t spare 3 vertical slots for additional arrows, you are setting up your bowazon in a wrong way.
If you use the bowazon for pvp, you only need 1 stack of arrows, namely the one on the opposit side of the bow.
Back in the days, I always had 50+ res (not hard to get this), 2 extra quivers (+1 stack on the second weapon tab), both tomes (ID and TP) and 5x4 free slots while playing on hell with friends.

That someone mentioned an increased stacksize, is probably the only way to go, since the game is old, and recent changes are only on the cosmetic level. The original game is still what you play, when you play D2R. Just better graphics.

I still love to play it and love also the new look. Just wish the old channel and chat system back. The looking of chars dont scares me much. And later in game i mostly wear a helmet, so that isn’t a real problem for me. And maybe it can be a actual good move for acceptance all humans.
Cruiser, so please do not play this game then: Cause the “gold auto-pickup”, bigger yet still too small inventory, and updated graphics may be too much for you. It’s something that has been changed for good.
and its not the original game below, it doesnt even really run. its just some graphics and even not the original graphics, not the original interface and so on.
and change is possible: medianXL made arrows endless and gave rare, set and uniq arrows.
and thats much better. diablo 2 can get even better with the right improvements.
I agree, even if I’m not particularly fond of changes when it comes to remasters. However, in may opinion, considering also that the Diablo I Rouge (and the Rouge mercs too) didn’t use arrows with the bow as well, the idea of making arrows and darts working like, let’s say, the Necromancer Shrunken Heads, but without the defense stats, instead of using them as a sort “replacement” of the bow/crossbow durability isn’t that bad. And if it was implemented directly from Blizzard in the original game, or in LoD, I’d say that probably would have been a more creative, and maybe better, way to add them than it was done in the end.

Oh, but they are there. you just need to figure out what the command is to join the channel. Also, check your chatbox when running a game, as it has a dropdown function. should be self explanatory.

-They added auto gold. cool thing, if you ask me. They removed certain chats and so on, which, if you ask me, doesn’t really bother me, since it was not really being used that much. Besides, I really hope for your sake, you didn’t pay attention to the way resurrection was released, since it was pretty much pushed out before it was 100% ready. Meaning, they probably released it to the public, fully knowing there was things that had not been implemented yet, and as you should know, if it works as it is, you can release it without major problems comming your way (just look at 95% of all the games on Steam, they are more or less still in their alpha stage, even after 5 years of development).
Worth mentioning is, the trade chat is enabled for everyone who has a chat window (lobby or in a game).

My MS bowazon clears cowlevel with ease with no extra arrows. Pit is no problem either. Baalruns also no issue. If i were to go on a 20 minute grind somewhere then yes, then it might be bothersome. But at those gearlevels you usually pick shit up anyway and have to empty your inventory in town more often than you need to refill arrows. We have to remember the limitations here. Its a bowazon, if you are using it for anything outside pit/cows… yer probably better of playing any other random class.
Bowazon problem isn’t lack of arrows, its lack of damage. Neither Faith nor the good old WF’s are enough to compete with other classed with runeword access. Bowa skills just don’t scale very well.
if you want a streamlined to death hack and slay or shiny new content, then go play diablo 3 … the arrrows / bolts are in this game REMASTER! and this is a good, not a bad thing!
The Path of Diablo mod got rid of ammo, or maybe it was median XL. Its something that alot of D2 mods have changed over the years.
But people wanted D2 and D2 has always had some pretty bad class balance, sorcs are always going to make up a large chunk of the playerbase on ladder start, because they are so strong without gear, while starting as a barb is literally making the game alot harder to clear.
You do know that the chat, lobby and TCIP was part of the old battlenet not the game?. You could join a diablo channel from starcraft for example. Nothing to do with the game its about battlenet
and 1-3 arrows take massive place for power ups like other classes (skill + charms) or talent trees like spear.
