Linkdead is not near instant like it was in D2

I lost 2 characters already to DC, both of them would have survived if LD was instant, it’s not.
Last one was a 83 concentrate barb, died in Hell Andy run. It’s just ridiculous, probably took the mobs 30 to 60 seconds to kill me.
It was a DC my side, not a game crash which I hope does not leave your char in game for 1 minute like it did to me.
Anyway it makes HC unplayable compared to what it was in D2, I had several 97+ back then, even a 99 hammerdin, I ve never died so easily in d2 HC.
Will probably stop playing, there’s just no point.

What exactly would be the point of playing though?

Whats the point of having several maxed out characters?

Serious questions, if you think there is no point of playing when you lose your HC characters to technical difficulties on your end. Just play the old game then. No need for the remaster.

Hm…when you get a disconnect from a game you get an instant bnet disconnect.

When your game freezes you do not get disconnected. You’re only chance is to hit your PC reset button as fast as possible.

I do firmly remember HC players way back then, they had a Panic Button, when HP went low it would do an instant “save and exit” (or Instant D/C), anyway it was automatic, and it caught me by surprise in public HC games seeing others using it.

Panic button is of no use in a game freeze. The game just freezes, can not be closed etc… Sometime task manager works, sometimes the whole PC freezes and only restart helps. I am not quite sure when i had this phenomenon last time. Must have been in windows 95 era.

“panic button” works if the game freezes. It will not work if the PC freezes. For that I would look into the latest GPU drivers, they are usually to blame for taking Windows down.
