Looking for some advice ( Summon necro )

Hello all,

Just wanted to see what most people use. Ive respected twice. I went with mostly revives and points into clay golem. But those revives mostly stand in the back and a high lvl clay golem still does shit dmg. No need for that slow with decreptify. Just made it to Hell so running the pit alot. Not any real good items ( think +3 total to summons ).

Just wondering what would be best to invest to extra skill points in AFTER you maxed skeletons/ mastery / and some points into CE. Got 1 free respect left :D.

Kill speed isnt that bad at the moment, but feel it could be better without new gear. Just not sure. Thnx in advance

Revives are mostly trash because their AI is terrible. They can be useful with enigma or teleport charges to reposition them. Since you’re doing pits, focus reviving the archers.

Skele Mages don’t do much damage in hell so they’re not great either.

I would max CE then 1 point: clay, golem mastery, summon resist, amp dmg, decrepify, and all their prereqs.

Pretty much all of the curses are good for a point, just depends when and where to use them

With all the extra points, you can go a few routes… 1 point iron golem, max golem mastery (not a great option pre enigma without careful play, due to ig poof), dump into revive and just enjoy the extra tanks, or focus on getting specific mobs, grab bone armor and synergies just for luls.

The necro only needs about 70-80 skill points. Everything after is icing

Revieves are quite stupid. Skeleton mastery and skeleton warriors are all you pretty much want.
A2 mercinary from nightmare gives might aura that even further increases their damage.

Since necro has a lot plus 1 to all skills, you basically need only one point in golems and summor resist.

Main curse is amplify damage, but i love how attract curse work (you can collect large amount of monsters from the map) and use your corpse explosion. Level of corpse explosion is up to you, higher the level the higher the area of effect.

So, to sum up all you need is 20 points in skelly mastery and warriors, 20 in corpse explosion and rest of points as you like. 1 clay golem, 1 summon resist, 1 amplify dmg, 1 attract, 1 decripfy.

I go with full points in Skeletons and Fire Golem, Golem- & Skeleton Mastery. A few points in Amplify Damage and Decrepify for Bosses, and a few points in Summon Resist and yes, Skeletal Mages. I like when the screen is full of my minions, even when the damage is not that good.
And no, it is not very effectiv, but it’s fun!

I have been playing my Skelemancer for many, many years in HC only.

Here’s my preferred build to solo all content:

Summoning Tree

  • Max Raise Skeleton
  • Max Skeleton Mastery
  • 1 pt in Summon Resist
  • 1 pt in Clay Golem
  • 1 pt in Golem Mastery
  • 1 pt in Iron Golem
  • Max Blood Golem (for the 5% life per point synergy to either Clay or Iron Golem)
    Nothing else.

Curses Tree

  • 5 pts in Amplify Damage
    Nothing else.

Poison and Bone Tree

  • 1 pt in Teeth
  • Max Corpse Explosion (the most OP skill in D2)
  • 1 pt in Bone Spear
  • 1 pt in Bone Armor
  • 1 pt in Bone Wall
  • Max Bone Prison (for the Bone Armor synergy, this will be maxed only when all previous skills are maxed first)
    Nothing else.

Skill Priority While Leveling

  • 1 pt in Amplify Damage
  • Max Raise Skeleton and Skeleton Mastery
  • 1 pt in Clay Golem
  • 1 pt in Golem Mastery
  • 1 pt in Summon Resist
  • 1 pt in Iron Golem
  • 1 pt in Blood Golem
  • 1 pt in Bone Armor
  • 4 more pts in Amplify Damage
  • Max Corpse Explosion
  • 1 pt in Bone Wall
  • 1 pt in Bone Spear
  • 1 pt in Bone Prison
  • Max Blood Golem

At this stage you are level 85, proceed maxing out Bone Prison till 99 or until you’re dead, if you play Hardcore :wink:

Preferred (end) Gear:

Head: Shako or good rare Circlet
Chest: Runeword “Bone” or when you’re rich the “Enigma” runeword
Weapon: Arm of King Leoric or Beast runeword for the lvl 9 Fanatic aura
Shield: Boneflame or “Spirit” runeword
Gloves: Trang Oul’s gloves or any rare/crafted gloves
Belt: Spiderweb Sash or Thundergods (good against Souls doing Baal runs)
Boots: Marrowwalk or War Travelers, or any rare/crafted boots
Amulet: +3 Summon Skills or Mara’s Kaleidoscope or crafted caster amulet
Rings: Stone of Jordan or crafted caster rings

Swap Gear

  • Teleport charged staff without using Enigma
    or
  • Gull Dagger/Blade of Ali Baba and “Rhyme” runeword for MF

Might Mercenary, Act II Nightmare
Helm: Any helm with +10% Life Steal such as Tal Rasha’s Mask, Andariel’s Visage
Armor: “Treachery” runeword (the lvl 15 Fade proc is Godly!)
Weapon:
Cheap - “Insight” runeword
Semi-budget - “Obedience” runeword (for insane fast boss kills)
Expensive - “Pride” runeword (for the lvl 16-20 Concentration aura)

Iron Golem
Use the “Insight” runeword on it for mana regen so yur merc can use a killer weapon such as Obedience or Pride

Tips & Tricks
The Arreat Summit is your friend:

  • Corpse Explosion deals 50% Physical and 50% Fire damage
  • When teleporting right on top of a boss, your Clay Golem will lock him in place, turning the boss into a snail, almost unable to do anything.
    When using Iron Golem, cast the curse Decrepify on him for the same slow effect. Note that Amplify Damage deals 100% more damage, Decrepify only 50%
  • Golems are almost always universal targets for mobs close by
  • Faster Cast Rate is pretty much not needed for summoners
  • Skeleton Mages and Revived monsters are worthless
  • If desired, when maxing Bone Wall and Bone Prison, your Bone Armor can soak +800 damage, depending on your +skill gear/charms

I used only 1pt in revive, most curses, summon res, etc., not even max CE and dumped everything else in bone wall to improve bone armor. It’s pretty much all the same where you spend them. You have your meat shields and your damage anyway. 1 pt in curses gives you the desired flexibility. The rest are style points.
