So I found this amazing weapon for my Assassin playing at the end of the first normal run. It is way better than mine, having 37-41 dmg. It will improve like 200% my actual damage, but it is Ethereal. Can I put “Indestructible” on it? Maybe with a socket and a specific rune?
With a Zod rune, but thats definitly not worth it xD
As above and it’s not worth it. Use it till it self destructs then hopefully you will find a better one on theway
The thing is Im still in normal, so the damage worth a lot. But I just need to kill Baal, so I will probably jump to the next difficulty very soon. Two questions: In the start of Act1 in the next difficulty, will I find better items than that? and second: I didnt find yet any Zod rune, is it a hell-level rune?
Which damages are “typical” for a weapon in nightmare mode?
Yeah Zod only drops in hell and it’s a very rare rune, at least in my experiance. You usually swap out most of your items quite quickly whenever you go up a difficulty.
Yes, you will. Itemlvl/dmg/stats increase with difficulty, no worries.
Zod is a highlvl rune, only drops in hell and is very very rare.

Finding something ethereal that’s really good is part of the D2 experience 
Zod rune is like “Kill diablo and clear out his sanctuary 10000 times”-rare, and you’re still not guaranteed to find it. By the time you find it you will have found high end gear several times over and don’t need that ethereal weapon anymore anyways
Yeah, its pretty much what i see… Guess ill stop farming Pindle and just kill Baal and go for the next difficulty
NM is a good difficulty to stay a while and farm Meph, Andy, Baal. Pindle farming makes sense (if any) only on Hell.

with a ZOD rune or certain runewords it is possible. Thought you can use ethereal wapon till it is destroyed hoping to find something alternative on the way.
For assassin weapons there are no choice unless you use that way to expensivee zod rune. However your mercenary can safely use ethereal items, they will not loose durability for them but they cannot use claw class weapons thou. You can also safely use etheral throwing weapons if they have “replenish quantity”. You cannot refresh thease at the blacksmith as other throwing weapons but they refill themself over time. I do not know if “self-repair” work on ethereal items but it just may, try it out if you find such an ethereal item.
If you found that weapon in normal difficulty, you’ll find way better weapons in nightmare.
I’ve never seen a Zod rune since 2000, never ever.
Zod is used in only ONE runeword: Breath of the Dying.
So, you either make a BotD weapon runeword or you make ethereal items indestructible. Only the rarest ethereal items are worth of putting a Zod in. I’m talking about rare items with very good modifiers combinations, it’s unikely you’ll find one before months of heavy farming.
