This is very annoying issue - when you are not god mode with items you need to work to survive. Now Town Portal was always the safe gate for both you and your merc. This is what is happening at all times - low life merc (10%-20%) and i think rather will jump to town to heal than pay 50k gold. I press on TP and it takes around 5 sec for the game to load me back into town. BUT MERC DIES EVERY SIGLE TIME. Its loading screen and showing slowly opening doors and boom you in town and just hear merc “arghhhhh” and hes dead. #

play a lower level i a m afraid. Game cant give you god mode if your running a level thats you are struggling with WPs have random mobs, some are close than others

Yep so thats the point i dont struggle - i clean diablo and ball runs alone. The matter of fact is that if i need to go to town and my merc has 20% life it dies every time (if its poison damage at the moment). My point is this is technical issue which lags travel through TP and merc dying every time is super annoying. Just for the record never this has been a problem in diablo 2 since 20 years ago. So it is issue of system. Because merc actually dies in town and its body disappear immediately. So if merc is low on life going to town means 50k gold cost.
Dont you know you can give him life potions
What is your merc Equipped with?
Duriels is a good armour, in fact it seems more tankier than fort but has less poke
Skin of the flayer has alot of life regen and life on hit which can offset the poison
You dont get me - i am not a noob i know this stuff. Merc is with vampire gaze, demonhide armor 8ll, and reapers toll (not eth 
) so it is good equiped merc. Any health potion does not restore fast is any poison dmg on and he dies anyway.
My actual point - this has never been the case in original d2. So it is issue in system

what are your merc stats in Hell ?
My merc hardly ever dies, especially not from poison, its if I leave him walking away with decryp on and them Hydras are all over him. I can tank them better than he can with my build. I can leave him to clear the last 2 waves in baal without me hitting them. Maybe its something your not doing differently from me, but experimenting with different items might get you better suited, I have a spare duriels you can have, this will give him a bit more life
Thanks, i actually found kraken shell unique and it works superb on merc. Died 1 time for over a week
Yeah I got a few in my stash, but when I upgraded a 199ED Duriels it seemed to tank him better. Would love an eth Leviathan, i bet they are cool on a merc.
Stick with that till you get enough runes to make a basic Forty, they are pretty potent on a merc
