So basicaly that.
These controlls have not changed in 20+ years and i think its time for a qualiti of life update once again
I love playing paladin, but lately my fingers start to hurt after an hour or so of it.
Having auras on the right and attack on the left is destroying my fingers.
The solution most see (so we dont have to constantly left cklick, istead just hold down Right click) is either have the ability to asign all skills/auras to any mouse button,
or even better option to swap right and left click, also an option to just cast the damn skills
on button press rather than button press+right click( this would be usefull in some cases)
Some argue that is not vanila, well i say games and game desig has evolved and devs adjust controls to what is more pleasant and ejoyable and confortable for the hand/user, if
someone still argues that is not vanilla, carpal tunnel wasnt “vanila” either, i dont think enyone enjoys that condition or is looking forward to getting it.
The Controller although with its obvious lacking flexibility compared to m+kb, is so chill to play up until Hell where one needs more precise movement and quicker actions,
i wish there was a blend between m+kb.
conclusion
Would love to see: ability to swap right/left mb
option to cast skill/spell on key press
These are suggested as option not changes, there is room for elitist and casuals
also youtubers (and people in their comment section) ask for stackable curency and dedicated tab(s) people end up creating mules anyway wich i think by this point got old also
i think it is more a problem part of the old code. you “attack” the chest to open it. you “attack” a trader to interact with them. so leftclick must be an attack key.
ther are some solution you can try.
shift (standard key) + leftclick. this let you do your left attack.
so if you have your hammer spell on the left key press and hold shift + press and hold leftkey you spam your hammers.
you can asign other keys else to shift. i prefer the space key. so i can hold the space key + hold leftclick and spam my hammers.
the last option would be a macro. you can create with autohotkey or macros on your setting from mouse/keyboard.
so if you press and hold button 7 on your mouse you press simultan shift + leftclick.
but for sure. it would be great if we can put aura on the left key ^^
D2R with K+M feels exactly like it did in original, but controller feels like a whole new game with QoL upgrades that make it so easy to chill and play, especially as melee.
Unfortunately if 1 press buttons came to K+M people would just cry it is too much like D3, so it would be great to have it purely as a 3rd play option, K+M/Controller/Hybrid, but I doubt it would happen.
I play on pc with a wireless Xbox controller.
Having the ability to use every skill without the need to flip through them is amazing. I can never go back to how primitive kb&m feels.
in D3 you can hold left click on a mob and if mob die the game auto attack next mob around with not need to re-click. in D2 if you hold click on a mob and it dies then need to re-click, that’s the problem
I prefer holding left mouse button, then the Pala moves, and if I have to attack, spam hammers, hold space for force standing still. In combination then the Pala spams hammers. Then release space and he walks again.
Otherwise play frenzy barb. It’s more easy, just hold right mouse button. My favorite gameplay.
Some guy on reddit was so upset about my post, he even assumed i didnt know about shift+click he was being such an ass about it “learn to play noob” :))))
Glad to see others are more open about it, we are not asking to change the game just an alternate control scheme, like old graphics vs new graphics.
Flipping through them?? What are you doing? You put them on hotkeys like WASD and it’s nothing to change skills in an instant. I can do it so fast that I’m using telekinesis on chests and rocks in-between cooldowns on blizzard and still teleporting out the way if mobs get too close. Or switch to static field or frost armor when needed then back.
