im socketing a lot of items so need as many Um’s as i can break a Gul rune into

Just saying - gul its in best case scenario 3x Mal, so u have 6x Um, but most likely only 5 if someone is willing to trade in that way.

ur wrong, ur describing the literal worst case scenario (it cant get any worse than wat u mention) ist mal / 3 mal is 1 break, theres always some value lost over multiple breaks but doesnt mean that the tiers mandate multiple breaks & multiple instances of lost value as a result. Lo can go for ohm vex gul ist mal depending on seller
ie: gul also goes for ist mal um or ist mal um pul which is 7um or 7 um pul. whoever has 7 ums still gets pul-um value for upgrading to gul. done it before. 6 um for gul - ur losing out on a mal which is the worst trade - only do this if u dont care for mal, but by no means is this normal. usually 3 mal um same as vex for 3 ist mal same as ist for 3 um pul - standard stuff
sorry to tell you this, but your logic is too naive, and try to use cube fusing logic backwards. Every rune have its usefulness and a “value” with it. Gul is not really useful, and doesn’t even worth 6 Ums. Its like you say Cham can go for Jah+Ber+Sur+Lo+Ohm+etc. Or telling better Jah=Ber+Lo+Sur+etc.
But Jah=Ber+Ohm, Cham=Vex…
so no, your description is ideal, but not realistic

im taking from experience not hypotheticals which is as real as it gets - not sure about ur experience with it, wat else is there to tell u when i’ve consistently traded this way in the past and u havent seen it before? regardless of wat u think i shud* be selling or buying for, im going for wat i know i can and will get, why would i change it to appease ur theocraticals? u’ve been missing out
dont take my word for it. even on these forums vex goes 3 ist mal as often as it goes for 3 ist. and ist goes for 3um pul as often as it goes for 3 um or even mal um pul as often as mal um. Gul also goes for Ist Mal Um = or 7 um unless ur crazy enough to try to break each tier separately where u lose value per break which is otherwise retained when u trade for its full value - just dont do it, its a waste of both time and value. there’s a range.
for example, you trade Lo for Ohm Vex Gul Ist. You dont 1st break Lo down to ohm vex, then that Ohm down to vex gul ist and then that vex down to gul ist and then that gul down to ist mal and then finally say that Lo is worth vex 2gul 3ist mal or ohm vex mal - u are losing value by breaking in between each tier. if u want to break a lo down to ist level ohm vex gul retain full value and thus u get Ohm Vex Gul Ist for Lo in 1 break. you are losing minor value (pul-ist) but that is acceptable.
seriously, dont take multiple breaks as the standard value - im not trading gul for 6 ums - thats a buyers value for ideal scenarios. mine is a sellers market with 7 um minimum. the range that i was referring to.
again going off what i always trade for and have for months so ill be fine but the input doest help in my experienced case.
im selling at 7 um pul if i can - admittedly 8 is idealistic but no harm in asking so long as the range is there negotiate with.
im also not using backwards cubing rules - zod/cham isnt worth more than Lo - i know this and i know wat im doing, ur mistaking my description of retaining value in between multiple breaks for cubing rules…thats not wat im referring to - i assure u, im trading in ways to maximize my value but it’s still pretty standard - again, dont it many times before and aint changing now, ur welcome to trade for wat makes u happy. thanks anyways.
