Died twice, left the game, gear gone. If you die once, better leave the game so you then pickup the body in town and all the gear. If you continue to play (eg trying to run to the body( and then die again, you are on your own…
Did you equip other gear to reach your body? Cause the game keeps the corpse with the biggest vendor sell value equiped if you quit and do another game. So if you die 200 times naked to try reaching your corpse there will nothing happen to your gear.
Actually, let me correct you (as this is an actual scam and you can lose items)
There is a limit to how many deaths the game will record on your account, I believe this number to be 14 or 15, don’t remember exactly. After 1 more death, all your items from the original corpse will drop on the ground.
I did equip temporary gear that I had in stash hoping to be able to go get my body. I died again with that second gear on, which was normal weapons. They were retained and originals were lost. I lost a Rattlecage armour to some crap armour I do not even remember, an The Atlantean and a Razor’s Edge to two normal, plain old Tyrant Clubs!
Normally the game keeps the body with the highes vendor value.
If you wear armor of higher types lke excaptional or plates potentially inrease the value, depending on bonuses.
The Game store a total of 8 corpses so a higher number will be cut down to the latest 8 were the value rule will be applaid upon recreating a game.
Good to know. Usually i just quit when i die to not risk anymore XP loss. Losing 10% multiple times at Lvl90+ hurts alot and in most cases its not worth to try to recover 3/4 of it cause you will just lose more. So i never had more than 2-3 corpses on the map even in the og diablo2
Also, remember that any super unique items are stupidly underpriced compared to 98% of the decent magic items, when it comes to vendor prices. and by vendor price, it means NPC price, not what you can trade it for, at another player.
quitting after a death, is usually the way to go for everyone… unless it’s hardcore
