Phoenix runeword’s level 22 firestorm proc is a wet firecracker
I expected something similar to the torch proc…
And it costs 4 high runes, yikes.

The MAIN REASON Phoenix runeword is ABSOLUTELY USELESS is because the firestorm proc INTERRUPTS your melee attacks/takes the time for your char to do a CAST ANIMATION (for the procced spell) in between melee attacks.
On a fast attack speed char (which is EVERY viable D2 melee char) this makes Phoenix utterly useless.
Notice the proc on a torch does NOT interrupt your melee attack the way Phoenix does. I.e. The proc on a torch isnt associated with a “cast animation”… you just keep swinging (frenzy, concentrate, zeal, etc). as the spell procs.
I dont know if this difference was on purpose or accident… But Im glad they didnt do it with torches… it would have made torched unusable on melee chars lmao.
Yep it actually is a scam.
The “Firestorm” granted by Torch is not the same “Firestorm” granted by Phoenix. Phoenix gives the Druid-version of the spell, while torch gives the Diablo version of it.
my druid use Bonehew and when the Spear proc it is the same it interupts melee and do often miss hits and i dont know why
You can sell this scam to me for ist rune, I would be happy to get a couple of such scams (hope, you made it in bow or shield).

It would be useless on your ZON… and useless on any melee char. Do you need me to explain WHY it would be useless on your Zon (whether you are Javazon or bowzon)? Did you actually read this thread lol?
FYI I already tested it just to be sure with my Zon… and confirmed… its absolutely NOT playable.
If it is so useless for you, why keep it?
I’m not gonna describe my creative ideas for fun builds, if you have zero incentive to make your own. You still even didn’t tell me what is the base item of it.
Then just sell it to Akara, if you think I’m a scammer. Also, did you know, that you can test a build in a single player with character editor before spend HR on something? It is even more easy in D2R, because ladder-only RW available in single player mode now.
Fajra… How do you think I was able to make it and test it so easily? I play single player myself lol. But I legit just made the runeword. A decade of single player with unlimited stash = more runes and bases then you will ever need. Still havent gotten all the TC87s yet though /cry.
I have Phoenix’s made in monarchs (and pally shields), and I made one in a GMB for this ZON testing specifically. And I already know its bad for any other melee weapon/attack.
Goodluck with finding some fun builds (im NOT saying this sarcastically). But I dont think youre going to find any fun gameplay with this runeword unfortunately. But then again… some people may find smashing their nuts with a hammer fun, so who knows lol.
