Some item that might need 2 years for a user to get it.
However it might lose just because the body pickup system
Do something Blizzard, remove this system! just lose mony and experice is enough.
Never make any chance to make user lose item, it will destroy this game.
For you item just a pice of code, but for user, it might thire life.
Imagine if such a luddite argument was applied to all walks of life. We’d still be living in huts and riding horses and dying at 30 years old. Sheesh.
I agree with OP, this feature adds little to nothing to the game. If your body lands in an easy to get place, you just go get it. If it lands in a hard to get place, you logout and back in pick it up at town. Riveting gameplay.
That’s because we all just stay logged in 24/7 now, not because the game has attracted more players.
If anything the fact the queue is getting shorter indicates we are losing players. Queue was only 2 people long this morning at 8am when I logged in. That’s by far the shortest it has ever been at that time.
It won’t be PoE2 that steals all D2R’s players, I never once said that. It will be Last Epoch, when it gets multiplayer. Or Blizzard’s incompetence.
When was the last time you checked the population of China. India, South Asian countries and their industrial output and pollution? Let’s see which country you are from and how many times your country (population) fits in one China… Now go worry about your carbon output…
And we care because? D2 is very, very boring even with the flashy graphics. Novelty aside, it will then be either new content (with new patches) or desolace.
Do not (allow yourself to) die twice… As a previous poster said, great mechanic…
The point is, this is D2R, based on a 20 year old game engine, sure, however it was paid with very modern money and many players (will) require content updates, bug fixes, patches etc.
Blizzard cannot maintain D2R as a museum piece, not with this price tag. They will lose all credibility.
By the way, head over to the WoW side, and look at the HUGE handbrake turn with incoming patch 9.1.5 - I wonder if some prominent developers are still with Blizzard or have got sacked already…
You can die as many times as you want and still not lose your stuff. Just learn how to play the game, that’s it.
The game was advertised as the reskin of LoD + some QoL features, which is great and that’s what we paid money for. New content? Sure, maybe in the future or with the Ladder, why not? Bugfixes? It depends…
Core game mechanics are fine though, including death and retrieveing your stuff.
Having one of the most iconic games in history and preserving it loses them credibility LOL
They already made up all the costs and it’s one of their crown jewels along with starcraft 1 remaster, they will not repeat warcraft 3 refunded fiasco, so the game will stay true to the original with only minimal intervention (gold, pindle cow bla bla bla)
Exactly. Unless you are playing dumb, you cannot lose your stuff under any circumstances. You only lose time and potentially gold. Useless mechanic; all it does is waste your time. Experience and gold loss is penalty enough for dying imho.
Note they have already changed the game mechanics so that you can protect yourself 100% from gold loss using your shared stash, it is only a tiny next step to remove the stupid corpse run/loss of items.
Going to all that trouble and expense just to make exactly the same game, then doing nothing with it to push it for new players and more cash? Yup, zero credibility in my book; that’s dumb as heck. There are millions of us willing to pay money for more content until the next big ARPG arrives. What a missed opportunity it would be to leave this as a carbon copy of D2LOD and allow the playerbase to dwindle away to that game’s level…
So yeah zero credibility for such lack of ambition, if that truly turns out to be the case.
If you “waste” your time - you get % of gold and %XP back by retrieving your corpse. You decide to quit and restart - you lose gold, xp and map progress.
Pretty nice and flexible mechanics where you have to make your choice.
Indeed, I’m not arguing against that whatsoever. Removing the lose of items would not affect those exp/gold loss mechanics. Go back and risk dying again and thus losing even more exp, or bail out and take the exp/gold hit. That’s enough of a dilemma.
Ahh, I see, you wanna respawn with a gear? If so - I would then remove restoring the XP and Gold at all like if you’ve made a restart but without a map progress loss.
No, you don’t get it.
For Blizzard, the best option is – if something are working, don’t change it.
I don’t think they can even find the code you are mentioning to change.
They might break everything else by trying to change code.
