Review Summoner Druid and Hammerdin Paladin

Hello, I play lightning witch and I would like to find an alternative to this character so that I don’t get too tired of it, because I’m getting to hell mode and I’m starting to struggle with immunities. I saw that Summoner Druid 2.4 now had great interest and above all could handle the game even in hell solo, without needing a big stuff. The paladin hammerdin often stands out as a must have for solo play as well. Are these classes fun to play? I love playing sorcerer (pretty spells and distance) but changing the gameplay a bit and above all being able to farm stuff for my soso. Thank you for your answers.

Summon druid is pretty boring. You don’t get to do much compared to summon necro.

hammerdin is ovepowered and could be fun but might as well try the new build with fist of heavens that they introduced in this patch.

Hello, yes I read that summoner druid was a bit boring to play but effective since 2.4. The necro seems to present the difficulty of needing materials to summon unlike the druid. I don’t know the paladin well so the fist of the heavens you are talking about I don’t know. I’ll take a look what’s going on.

I wouldn’t really call summon druid effective. Just not useless in Hell anymore.

Fist of heavens build is great because unlike the hammer build, you have some variation to gameplay. Some monsters aren’t undead or demons so no holy damage but you still do lightning.

Then you have plenty of auras to switch to, depending on the case, Convinction, Holy Shock, Redemption or even Salvation. Again, not like hammer where only one is optimal.

Summon druid is kinda useless. I mean yeah he can solo hell, but it’ll be a very time consuming and boring journey. Compared to summonmancer the only advantage druid have is that he doesn’t require corpses to spawn his army. But necro got much more in damage types, necro have CE and necro can bring a bunch of urdars to Diablo’s party

also summonmancer have curses to deal with phys immune monsters.
Druid suffers from those immunities

you almost make me want to edit a necro ^^

I tried Druid and my friend tried new pala build, we played through normal and nightmare. Honestly, it was very slow and both builds were extremely weak during these times, to the point of being very frustrating.

Perhaps they get much stronger late game with full gear?

The druid pet AI is terrible, they are slow and perhaps the build requires enigma to shine to force position them but honestly they were far worse than necro army all around apart from simply not needing corpses. Also the druid requires so many points to pets that you have little other utility. It seems to need a buff pass.
The pala, so my friend said, was simply too weak early game as the bolts fired are holy that hit only undead and demon, so much of the games enemies are immune, the single target is great but very little aoe potential for areas that you would want it unless farming specifics like chaos maybe.

we did not enjoy levelling with them at all so we gave up late nightmare and honestly were ready to do so much earlier.

It highly depends on what do you expect from your build.
If you want to solo clear all until last monster, hammerdin will be good and make it in decent time.
Summoner druid can clear hell too and safely, but is one of the slowest builds. It can be rather boring if you go full summon and only stand there for 5 min waiting for your pets to kill something.

As for FoH, he can clear fast certain areas, but you will suffer through lvling up, what more, you will suffer in the same areas where your lightning sorc does. Outside cs the lightning immunes are neither demons nor undead.
It’s good budget CS and Pindle killer on players 1. Now can do Countess and Throne as well. It’s not that good lvl up build. I switched before nm Baal and would recommend switching to FoH around Mefisto hell, A2 and A3 up to Kurast are 70% monster skip.

Noone mentioned it here, but you don’t need to kill all mobs everywhere, esp on hell. You got sorc, you got tp, if you get to immune, skip them.
