hello, i now am the proud owner of a 4 socketed pike with Ral Tir Tal Sol in it.
Where is my Insight? I was under the impression that all runewords would work in the new game.
Pike is Spear Class.
It only works with Polearms ;(

I socketed ORT SOL into a Full Helm and got a Mechanic’s Full Helm instead of Insight…

You can only make rune words in white items.
“Mechanic’s” is a magic item which gives two sockets. You can’t make runewords in magic (blue), Rare (yellow) or unique (gold) items.

I know that, it was white and is blue after I put the runes in…
Hm, not that i can play right now, but another question… are eth armor runewords still bugged with +50% extra defense?
Very very unlikely. This is going to just going to be a case of human error not realising that you had a magic item which only gave 2 sockets.
There is no mechanic in game to create a magic item without the cube.
They have no re-written code to do this.
Mechanic’s is the magic prefix for sockets. The chance that the game bugged and created at magic item from a white item with the correct prefix is a million times less likely than human error of picking up a plain Mechanic’s helm, missing it was blue because it didn’t have any other attributes and the failing the runeword.
That is unfortunate, but we all make mistakes, big pointy sticks all look the same to me as well! I hope it’s not too much of a set back and you are still having fun, thanks everyone for helping! 
Well, its not but if the mistake wasn’t mine, I hope it’ll be either fixed or there will be some information on which runewords don’t work, some of them take way longer to farm than this one…
The mistake was yours. A white 2 socket helm does not turn in to a magic mechanics 2 socket helm.
You used the wrong base item.
