i crafted some decend polearm for my act2 nerc. Thogh it had very high dmg i choose to lower it in ilvl to put 2 sockets onto the polearm.
What are your most used things to put into sockets on magic items ?
pure dmg like extra fire runes or gems ? or you prefer lover defences ?
you need to clarify “crafted” as in cubed or imbued or found?
magic/rare/unique items can only (well mostly the other one require a soj but nvm that) be socketed at larzuk quest. once the item is already socketed you cannot add more sockets to it. I would not bother with a mercenary until lvl 30 or so by that time your a2 merc can wear a insight (lvl 27) and you will find a lot of 4s poleaxes in act5/cows. Hope that helps.

So i crafted a savaged polearm ilvl 50.
Then lowered it with 3 chipped gems to add 2 sockets to the polearm.
I know i can do an insight but i dont have the base yet nor the required lvl
I typically just socket gems for damage. Until I find a nice rare or unique one. Not trading and losing some gear dying as I play hardcore though, so working with fairly common gear…
i collect my first unique to be a spear but is wprse then the one with malice or the nrw crafted one with sockets that even overtake malice.
i was thinking to insert a poisen rune in there for a great dmg boost and negating selfhealing snf maybe some electrp dmg gems or a skull for life drain. i even consider -25% enemie defense for beeing able to hit more cause my hitraiting is only 88-93&

The polearm always spawns with the “Savage” prefix (66-80% Enhanced Damage), has a chance to gain a suffix, and will be item level 50.
The resulting base will be randomly selected from the following pool:

yes and afterwards i make 2 sockets on it with 3 chipped gems lowering the ilvl to 25 but gives it 2 sockets
I am having a lot of trouble finding a base item to make an Insight. I am level 45 right now and halfway through Nightmare, where should I look? Or is it too early and the resulting weapon would lack damage?
