Stash Space is a Problem - Here are some Solutions

Hello everyone,

I think there is no doubt, that Stash Space is way to small, for everyone collecting all those gems, runes, uniques, sets, jewels, charms etc. While I kind of like the Loot-Tetris, one’s reaching the point to have to create Mules very quickly and since there is a Character Limit now and swapping chars has a cooldown, it’s very uncomfortable to manage the Amory and Materials.

So I thougth about possible solutions, to maintain the Loot Tetris, while offer more choices to keep the things you want.

1.) The simplest Solution: Add more shared stash tabs.
This one is a no brainer, just adding more tabs will allow to keep more stuff, without wasting the limited character slots with mules. The nuber how ever is hard to tell, because people have different needs and ideally we don’t have to purchase them, but just have them or have a chance to earn them in game. So I think, while it’s a simple solution, it’s something hard to balance, but at least some more would be really helpful.

2.) The more sophisticated Solution: Allow Materials to Stack and Introduce a special tab, that can hold one type of every unique and set item.
That way, the things, that eats up stash the most will be reduced by a lot and allows to store only the “other stuff” in the normals tabs. If gems and runes just stack, it will be very easy to maintain a material tab.

3.) The “also purists will be happy” Solution: Add bags to the game!
I can think of a new type of items that can drop which allow you to bundle your loot. Simlar to Charms, there will be 3 kind of bags:

  • The small bag, with the size of the cube (3x4) which eats up 1x1 stash space (Normal)
  • The medium bag, with the size of the old stash, which eats up 1x2 stash space (Nightmare)
  • The large bag, with the size of the new stash, which eats up 2x2 stash space (Hell)

They will work similar to the cube, so you can open it with right click and throw stuff into them to organize the things, while you still need to play the loot tetris. Of course the drop rates shouldn’t be to high, but also not way to rare. Something you will see if you activly play the game but also nothing you will find so often, that all shared stash tabs are filled up with them in a month.

I would really like a combination of those, maybe 1-2 more shared stash tabs, while materials can stack (maybe not to much) and you can find bags to group/bundle your stuff together.
But as long as anything happens, I will be happy

Thank’s a lot in advance! Feel free to add your ideas, thoughts, opinions

Cheers!

I stopped playing after learning that I won’t be able to own all the unique and set items due to limited space. Trying to collect everything was part of the fun for me. While expanding the personal inventory might cause balancing problems to to being able to add more charms, expanding the city stash would be a QoL update which would make me reconsidering playing the game.

Hope it’s fine to bring this up again, it’s been a while and I think there are a lot of players facing stash space issues

Personally, I think adding at least 1 extra stash tab per difficulty cleared seems respectable. I would also say that runes, essences, Keys for ubers and gems should be stacked rather than having 3 ral runes for example taking up 3 stash squares. This can be done as it was in (I think but could be wrong) Median XL version.
This alone would free up alot of room in everyones stash tabs.

However, I will be blunt in saying that people who continuously ask for more space after being given alot more space like D3, imo are just hoarding alot of gear that they will not be using. I remember a Youtuber during Reaper of Souls, complaining about having no space in his stash, yet he had loads of the same set items of which ancients and primal versions of set items had not been created yet lol.

I Agree to stack up runes/gems/keys to maximum 3. Only 3? Why? Because with 3 there is no way to dupe if there will be a method one day. If a item gets duped. It goes to 2, no matter what. But by trying to dupe the stacked, it would be forced to be 4 and this is then not possible.

Stacking Gems, Keys, Runes would be a nice feature and it is possible because its just a “1 click feature” that is already implemented. Please allow us to stack up to 3. The stash is rly to small and it will get worse time to time.

from what I’ve seen on alot of youtube clips, everyones stash has at least 1 tab filled with runes/gems or essences/keys.
This is why stacking is a must in D2R, this will help massively with storage space distribution.

Also, wouldn’t mind seeing newer runes or gems added to this game as long as they are not OP. I know we’re getting new runewords next patch but I believe that it shouldn’t be online only. I’ve seen these new runewords and they’re not really OP, so why online exclusive?
I’d like to see more dagger runewords or more melee runewords in general as these are the most challenging builds to play as due to lack of AOE as well as other things. I know people say use Grief, but I’m talking about lower levels to mid levels. Grief to me is a pain to obtain even for it’s level, but that said I don’t mind farming for the runes, just as long as it’s better than some of the low end runewords that are worse than rare weapons that are dropped on the floor.

Totally agree… this limited stash space is one of the things that is killing the game for me… Game is meant to be fun just give us 100% PlugY stash.

There is another solution: They can add a holy grail stash, that allows you to add one of each item. That way you can never hoard stuff you will never use, but still collect everything you need (and chase holy grail). That, on top of a currency tab would be enough for me.

You can also exchange a better rolled unique for a worse one, and if you want to keep doubles, you have the already existing 3 shared tabs for that.

In my opinion, if the same item can be combined in one slot, it’d be good, such as 99 super mana potions in 1 slot, 99 Ruby in 1 slot, 99 same type of Runes in 1 slot, etc. Or maybe, 10 quantity in 1 slot at least, it’d be nice.

Definitely not potions, that would break way too much. But it might be time to start stacking gems and runes.

very good idea - i like that :+1:

PoE already solved the stash issues, no idea why they wouldn’t just give us 50 stash tabs. It’s not a UI/UX issue either ,since it’s solved. Probably not too much time to develop either…

you got 20 mules to make

In Diablo 2 LoD you got infinite storage space since you can make all the accounts you want… so your argument is not valid. We actually got less storage space even they gave us “bigger” storage space.

you had to re-log on them every 30 days or something or you lost them

Uhhhhhh yeah and? Doesn’t change the fact… It was a minor inconvenience that took 10 minutes every month to overcome. Is it so damn hard for people to admit they where wrong these days? or you got more mute arguments i need to waste my time debunking?

If you don’t like it go play old D2, stop crying, I’ve filled up 15 mules and I don’t winge about it

I would be for solution number 1. I would also be for a separate inventory for magic charms, then you would have more space when farming than in this small cube.

One of the truthful reasons (although, many people will not admit it, instead they’ll argue it) is that people hoard way too many items, that they know they will not need or for a character who is way too many levels away and/or too many stat points away from using that item, even though they will keep using the character who found it that doesn’t need it because they like that character (because they’re feeling op or they just like their playstyle, which is understandable, each to their own).

I’m not saying everyone does this but those who do are usually the ones who see having more stash space more of a must than a luxury, look at Diablo 3. Every season, within the first week, people go through 8 stash tabs with near enough 1 character and straight away ask for more space.

Me personally I wouldn’t mind more stash space but only for the runes/gems/keys and essences. The one thing however, that I do 100% agree with is the whole stacking of gems, runes and keys/essences. This is a feature that can be done without excuses. If this feature is done, then (for me anyway) the amount of stash space currently is ok. Still more space than D2 LOD unless you used the Pluggy Mod.

I know I’ll get backlash off someone for this comment but it’s just an opinion, if you don’t like it please remember what’s your opinion is yours and your entitled to it and regardless of it I’ll respect it (if it’s not a nasty comment), so please keep that in mind for other people, as there is way too much animosity in the forums as of late all over 1 persons comment.
