Suggestion: Re-Add Online Multiplayer /players X Command

I know I may get some flak for this, but I want to state my thoughts.

Way back in the day, besides online (Bnet) and offline versions, there was a LAN (TCP/IP) option. It allowed for multiplayer games without being online (what? archaic - I know) but the beauty of this was I could play with my friends AND set the player command to whatever I wanted. Truthfully, it was awesome bashing our puny 2 player heads against the players8 difficulty for the exp and loot. It was some of the fondest memories I have of this game.

Fast forward to today, where the only experience I can get with this is offline, by myself. Can’t even trade with my friends (who are now playing Resurrected). I really, really just want to have the option to set players to whatever I desire in non-ladder games. I can respect ladder has its own complexities where this may give an unfair advantage. But, its a casual game for me and my friends; why can’t we set our non-ladder player command? I would really like to see it re-implemented, but Blizzard be Blizzard.

they removed it because of piracy, because that way they could play online between friends with the pirated game, I doubt they’ll put it back

They removed the LAN mode due to that, which - fine. But the players 8 command? It can be done with legit copies.

Also, even offline mode requires some online authentication so this seems moot. This whole post is not about adding TCP/IP back (it didn’t age well) - this post is about allowing the non-ladder online players to change the player command while playing with friends.

Yeah, I think non-ladder online should have it.
