Here for the same reason…

Things I’ve spent the past 3 hours trying…

Restarting computer. - Check for updates. - Validating game files. - Reinstall game. - Reinstall battle net. - Delete %appdata% folder. - Deleting the cache - Change time and date - Use vpn - Turn off firewalls - Try different Wifis.

Blizzard, please. Just allow people to play your game. Why bother making it in the first place?

yah its so frustrating, why do we have to deal with this really useless issue when we paid for the game! why cant they just get rid of the DRM and let us play offline like it used to be.

I have done some experiments, including a clean uninstall and reinstall BN launcher and D2R executable, so that the wipe out of blizzard cache folder doesn’t matter; then I try switch to various D2R game severs, all of them still don’t work

Recently, I logged into my BN account on one of a cyber cafes’ computer then ran the D2R , to my surprise, it allow me to play online, I can access all my ladder and non-ladder characters without any problem, now I have a well-bulit level 16 pure-fire Sorc since last time I played D2R, which was three years ago (this fit prefectly the 30-days-offline banning standard)

Then I recall my household bandwidth connection used for play D2R is a 5G mobile signal, shared out by an cellphone as a hot spot, which is very likely the root cause of most D2R player encounter the 30-days-offline error dialogue box
I assume :

  1. the D2R server might block the public IP addresses assigned to some mobile telecommunication venders, so when users of that sepcific vender rent such kind of IPs, they cannot make a TCP three-way handshake with the D2R servers, regardless of the server’s physical location, this demostrate why using a free or even paid VPN accelerator didn’t fix the problem

  2. Or at least the mobile bandwidth connection as the front end of a cellphone shared hot spot WiFi was impractical for playing D2R online, perhaps some NAT (network address translation) got involved and confused D2R servers for authentication

As widely known, the IPs assigned from ISPs to most cyber cafes are relatively fixed, or static, to some extent, we can easily trace the actual geo-information for each client (D2R players in this context) who using these IPs, so maybe it’s one of the security considerations of D2R sever firewall----
not allow those packets posses dynamic public IP headers, for example, some ISPs gave their customers IPs that change (or reassigned) every 72 hours, and by design of some MMORPGs’ network architectures, once they detect IP changed, they will kick you out of the game server, force re-establish connection

So, generally speaking, if your network topology for gamming D2R is WiFi behind a 4G/5G mobile network connection, probably not suitable (that is, your bandwidth connection method have changed since last time you logged into D2R servers successfully )

This perfectly explains why I can play D2R online in cyber cafe, but as long as I arrive home I receive 30-day-offline error ----never take message from Blizzard literally, the truth is always need to be explore
