Using all RAM, getting stuck since last update

Since the last update, D2R uses all my available 8GB RAM and is unplayable (graphics move too slow, hardly reacts to mouse movement and clicks), which it wasn’t before on the same system. It didn’t use to use that much RAM, either. What has changed and what can I do? I’m not planning on upgrading RAM since other, 3D and much more sophisticated applications run without problems.

Having the exact same issue, issue occured after last update, other games work fine on my PC, only D2R has RAM issues, also have 8 GB RAM, using Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB, game shows VRAM usage is at max, any solution yet?

Interesting, I think I have the same video thingy. Have you tried updating the driver? I did last night, but didn’t have time to check D2R properly if it runs now. First attempt was still a bit sluggish.

From options lower TEXTURE QUALITY. Once the bar above shows memory usage is not maxed, then it should run more smoothly. You can then experiment if the some areas allow you run with higher settings. ACT III is especially memory consuming area.

Lowering TEXTURE QUALITY will still let you enjoy the good graphics, you can actually only notice lower quality properly if you zoom or are in the character selection screen.

And you can quite easily still max all other settings, they just consume processing power instead of memory capacity.

My GPU driver is updated, I tried lowering texture quality, when it is on medium game is playable, a bit laggy still but playable, but still when i close the game and check task manager RAM usage is over 90% for 1 minute until the game completely closes… Before the last update game was runing on very high texture quality and there were no issues, but the fact is I updated GPU drivers and the game itself at the same time, might be some compatibility issue with GTX 1060 newest drivers and the game itself…

@Cay: that worked, thank you! Not the game takes its sweet time starting and loading the character (still weird considering how other games work on my machine), but I can play again. Thanks!

Yeah something is wrong since the last update for me, when i start D2R now, i get 3Fps directly from the character selection screem, and the graphics card is working at 100%, i usually play at max settings with no issues at all. all my drivers is up to date, tried reinstalling the game - I do not have this issue in any other game!

Seems like the dedicated graphic card is channeling everything to the ram.
Since the last update, it´s super laggy until game crashes.
i can still use the integrated graphic card but it´s full of glitches the screen.

Still experiencing this issue to this day. D2R was using 10GB of ram when I noticed everything getting sluggish

Same issue here.
When game title screen loads, after pressing a key, it displays the popup “connection to battle.net” then the game becomes extremely slow (barely 1FPS) and it’s impossible to play.
It was working fine one week ago.
I tested to uninstall and install the game again but it still happens.

Note: I even tried to submit a support request, but… it fails as well.

EDIT: after doing some research, I checked the contents of DxDiag, and figured that my graphics cards was apparently disabled.
So I first tested to update the driver, which did not work, then I uninstalled the device and let Windows reinstall it. After that, the device was working properly and the game could launch.
