Developers! Obsession is a completely unbalanced runeword! Compare it with the top unique staves like Ondal’s Wisdom or Mang Song’s Lesson. This runeword completely overshadows the best unique staves in the game. It shouldn’t be like this! Rune words should not be better than unique items! The whole point of searching for them disappears, it’s enough just to insert runes into sockets and get the best weapon. This is completely unacceptable, come to your senses. I am extremely disappointed. Do not introduce crazy runewords into the game, they completely discourage interest in playing. Diablo gameplay has always been like fishing, when you tried to catch a bigger fish. But these runewords greatly simplify the whole gameplay. I’m shocked. The worst expectations have come true.
Have you played this game before?
I know that there are several runewords in the game, such as Enigma, that need to be nerfed. And that’s exactly what we needed to do. Honing the balance is not only adding and improving characteristics, but also reducing unnecessarily powerful things. The introduction of such unnecessarily powerful runwords is a direct path to Diablo 3. +25000% to increase damage in patch 2.5 will become a reality. Patch 2.4 already greatly simplifies the game. I don’t want that. This is the way to the trash.
Can you explain why the runeword is overpowered?
Wow, das ein einziger Mensch so viel Sche*ße von sich geben kann … das Einzige, was wir hier nicht gebrauchen können, ist dein Stumpfsinn, den du hier verbreitest …
It’s obvious. If you don’t notice it, there’s nothing to talk about with you.
I really don’t see? Weaken proc? Skills, fcr, fhr. It just means staffs could possibly be used instead of shield plus other weapon? To make one more viable?
How is this staff overpowered??
Hoto + spirit or oculus + spirit is pretty equal to this. You even lose 10% fcr using the new runeword.
Its something that allows new builds thats all. This runeword is in no way overpowered compared to the current meta.
Probably you are mad that it costs a zod rune, else i have no idea
I agree that unique items should be better they should even buff rare items to have better prefixes and suffixes.
Why don’t you compare it with spirit and hoto? Just sit down clown.
Finding the right runes has never been a huge challenge. Any rune can be crafted in a cube. Then you just buy a white staff from a merchant, make sockets in it in the cube and insert runes. That’s it! You get the best item in the game without even leaving the city. What do you suggest next - a console command to enable God mode? Why do we need unique things at all? If you make a runeword much much faster and easier than finding the same Mang Song’s Lesson, and even with the worst Obsession roll, it will still be much better than Mang Song’s Lesson in its ideal version? Runewords should not be better than unique items! Those some runewords from patch 1.10 need to be nerfed. In the recipes for creating the runewords themselves, there should be a very large spread of most characteristics, such as +1-3 to all skills, +20-50 to all resists, and so on. And only in their ideal version they should be at the level of unique items. This should be the balance.
Otherwise, we will come to Diablo 3 when there is no point even picking up unique items from the ground and the whole game will be reduced to endless races on Black Marsh for runes.
Isnt the drop chance of a zod way lower than the chance for the uniques ? Thus its harder to get the runeword therefore its fine to me that its more powerful since its harder to get.
If your argument is that getting runes by trading makes it more easy to get them that doesnt really count since you could trade for the uniques as well without leaving the town.
Well another interesting thing is that the strongest runeword for this ladder period will be for the class that in many ways is the strongest already overall and the go to for MF, while a class like for example the assassin does not have a good option for a high level runeword claw that is really usable.
Sorc for sure would not have been my first choice for the highest level runeword this ladder and also one no merc can use.
Good luck with buying white war staff from merchant.
Also, go ahead and check price for war staff with +3 skill +3 mastery.
Ondal’s Wisdom and Mang Song’s lesson are complete trash for endgame. Remember to always compare them to Shield+1h (say, Spirit Monarch Shield + HOTO) combo, not just to 1h. This is not Obsession’s problem, this is D2 Staff problem - there are (were, before Obsession) no good end-game staves in the game whatsoever.
I repeat to you - the introduction of such unbalanced runewords will make all unique items garbage. Before patch 1.10, these stafs were the best. In patch 1.10, the developers have already chosen the wrong direction. Instead of correcting this and fiddling with too powerful runwords, they are now aggravating the situation. They have greatly improved the skills of all classes. To maintain the balance, you now need to slightly correct the runewords. But they do the opposite. They are introducing more level 85 locations, they are introducing crazy runewords. This kills the variability, now all casters will wear only Obsession. It’s a nightmare, it’s the worst thing that could be implemented. I am not against strengthening weak skills, but I am categorically against such unbalanced runewords.
Quite dramatic tbh.
Maybe they will slowly balance some things out in future updates? Slow careful changes, like they did to some set pieces and bonusses this patch, seems to me the best way to go without pissing too many people off at once.
Perhaps we’ll see some buffs to some rare but underwhelming and unused uniques.
I for one hope so.
Most Uniques are garbage in game. I am so, so glad they listened and we get set items buffed. Most of them will still be “meh” but some like Najs are getting interesting! Maybe they will buff uniques next. Ohh buffing Mang song’s would be so nice… Who am I kidding, I will never find one anyway
As if Unique Staves are not garbage already, compared to alterntives?
I think we need to nerf you and not the game…
