Hi Guys, I was hoping someone could give me some advice on what helm I could use to refine my zealot build which aims to have a max possible dmg output.
Here is my equip so far
Guillaume’s Face socket with Um
Grief
Fortitude
Phoenix
Dracul’s Grasp
Verdungo’s Hearty Cord
Gore Rider
Metalgrid
Raven Frost
Dual leech ring with +dmg + ar
Palatorch
Annihilus
Max dmg / ar / life charms
Now to my questions
I don’t need the Um rune in Guillaume’s anymore since I meanwhile got enough res to max out from other items. So i was planning on putting one of those jewels in it:
Option 1: 15max dmg / +39%ed
Option 2: 7 max dmg / +27%ed / +21-45 fire dmg / +5 dex
At first I thought the choice was obvious and put the first in it. On a second thought however I would rather tend to option 2 since the fire dmg is quite nice and gets even more enhanced since I use Phoenix
Would you agree or still prefer option 1 - or would you maybe put in something else entirely?
As to the Helm in general: Is Guillaume even the best choice in this case (I somehow can’t say no to the incredible boost to cb and ds) or would you propose something else? Maybe even a 3 socket normal Helm with maxdmg / ed jewels (so 120%ed + 45maxdmg), whereby I wonder if you after all really get more damage out of it since you lack the %for cb and ds). I somehow find it mandatory to have cb, at least if you want to go for bosses.
I would be grateful for any advice in that regards - also in general to the build / equip is appreciated.
To be honest I would put a Cham in Guillaume in order to free one ring slot, put there another dual leach ring. Than I would also consider as an alternative for Draculs, Laying of hands…the extra ias, damage to demons and fire res are nice as you compansate the ls from dracul with the ring. And you don’t really need more life tap when you crunch through mobs with that much ls. An lastly I would also oscillate between verdungo and string of ears for more ls.
In my opinion you already have more than enough damage to destroy anything even in p8. But of course these are only my 2 cents.
L.E. Is this a build for pvp or pve?
And I completely forgot. I would go with option 1, and I would stick with Guillame, due to the same arguments you stated.
Many thanks for you proposals! Just one question since you are recommending ias. As far as the ias calc goes and assuming it work correctly (tried it with twice I randomly googled), I am already with a 30% grief and fanatism lvl 20 at framecap without any additional ias (with zeal). Or isn’t that the case?
To answer your question: I’ts some kind of pvp/pve hybrid. I like to be at least a bit prepared if am ambushed by some griefer. Thats why I have lots of AR (eg through metalgrid)
yes, you are at the IAS cap already with grief and Fana, no more IAS needed.
Gface might be already the best for you, CB is very good for melee and since you do not have too much on other items is hard to get rid of it. Because you mentioned 3 socket helm, there is a nice unique, Giant Skull, whcih can roll only 2 sockets but has 10%CB, lot of defense, Knockback, 25-35 strength…
next patch you can try to get rid of Metalgrid cause they improve attack rating for melee, so you can try e.g. Highlord(lot of DS), anyway, you already has a lot of Attack rating, maybe can swap even now to Highlord(then your Um in Gface is ok). Not sure if -25% target defense from Grief is taken into account when you see the tooltip with chace to hit monster, so you might actually have already high enough chance to hit.
It is correct.
But if you are able to reach 113% IAS breakpoint, it will nullify any slow curses like decrepify if you plan doing baal and chaos runs. Basically you could never be slowed…by nothing.
It’s just my preference. I usually tend to sacrifice raw damage in my builds, in order to achieve the best balance between dmg and clear speed. I only play PvE.
Anyway, the question remain, why to improve? since there is no end-game, no possibility to measure your improvements to builds, how do you know that your build is improved or not by changing few items? how you compare the builds?
Aaaandd…there we go. I wanted to keep my mouth shut, because he gave a decent answer and I am not one to bash another without reason just for past transgressions. Anyone, even Danutz, has the ability to grow. It’s a choice.
But he could not refrain. Don’t mind him. He is a known troll on these forums, complaining left and right since launch what a bad game D2 is, no endgame, with bugged loot allocated by ip
, light and dark accounts…all the D2 tin foil collection 2021-2022.
Stop feeding him dude. Just ignore and don’t reply.
I think the best helm etc. really depending on what you are doing.
CB isn’t all that great if you are running around in cow level or pits etc.
CB is really great against those mega HP monsters (baal, ubers).
When I play melees and I use CTA, I always hated that I have so little +all skills that my BO is so short duration.
So I basically like to at least equip high lords and CoA, maybe even a BK and/or arach.
Sometimes i even prefer enigma over fortitude because if you play on /p1 you really don’t need that dmg at all
But like someone said before, switch at least draculs for lay on hands, you cannot beat that dmg wise and since you are res capped and even run around with phoenix, life tap feels pointsless (unless you go for ubers of course)
