I’m wondering why people do not put a Spirit on a low level shield. I’ve put a Spirit runeword on a Superior Heraldic Shield that only requires level 25 with a low defense of 22, but the rest is actually a lot better than the Superior 15 ed Monarch base I’ve used for the Spirit I am using. +45 all res +50% ed, only requires 40 strength… What am I missing here? I know monarch is popular cause it’s not just for paladins, but wouldn’t it be better to just put a spirit on a low level shield instead of a monarch for casters?
The answer is the number of possible sockets in a shield. For non-Paladins the lowest possible shield is a Monarch.
weird Pala flex, but okay
haha yep, weird pala flex xD
Yeah… only Paladins can get a spirit shield on Normal and Nightmare which pretty much further affirms the fact that they are one of the easiest / broken classes in the game…
I had a spirit shield on my paladin after normal mode using some 4os targe I found in a normal cow game… I couldn’t get one on my Sorc until I reached hell mode and found a Monarch shield in the pits.
Monarchs are the lowest requirement shield in the game for every other class besides Paladin.
The hilarious part is, the Paladin ditches the Spirit on Hell mode for HoZ while every other class is like…
“Ah yes, finally, my Spirit shield!”
Once they attain the level / str requirement to equip a Monarch.
If you were going to put a spirit on a paladin for hell mode, your best bet is a 4os kurast shield with 45 all res… but yeah good luck finding that… better off just using HoZ.
Because people play not only paladin.
- Why can paladins use Spirit shields way sooner? Booh!
- Why can Amazones use gloves with +2 skills? Unfair!
- Why can Necromancers use weapons and offhands with +3 skill or more? Not balanced!
- Why can Barbarians and Druids use helms with +3-6 skills? No way!
- Why can Assassins use +2-6 skill weapons and dual wield them? Such nonsense!
- Why can Sorceresses use OP … and so forth and so forth…
Thanks guys, was just an honest question, not trying to spark a whole balance debate
Elite pala shields will provide you higher chance to block, while normal ones have a low one. An heraldic has less than 50% chance, while a sacred targe has the highest and is 60% chance to block, this will allow you to save dexterity points needed to reach max block, each 1% equals to about 2 dex points, so in a paladin you will get like 6 more base life points for each 1% more base chance to block a shield has. The final output will be that with a sacred targe you will have like 100 more life than using an heraldic.
The lowst str req shield for non paladins is the monarch and that is why it is the only choice for non paladins, after that u have to use either ward or aegis, wich have like 180 and 220 str req each.
