Since I’m nut sure if I want to play ladder mode I am wondering if I will be able to craft the new runewords after the ladder has ended. Does anyone know anything about this?

Yes, all ladder functionnalities are integrated in non ladder when the ladder ends

I don’t know, in D3 there is not like that, only a few things pass to non ladder, not all.
This is like in Diablo2 since the beginning of ladder. And it has been confirmed by blizzard if i am not mstaken.
Dont know in d2r but in d2l you cant craft ladder rw’s, but if you craft it with a ladder character once ladder finish all your items/characters become no ladder, but you cant craft only ladder rw’s
You will be able to make the new runewords in nl, once the ladder season is over. You dont need to do it with a former ladder char, and you dont have to do it while the ladder still runs.
Thats how it has been in D2 forever.
Did you play Diablo 2 in legacy ?
Craft a ladder runeword, it’s only ladder craft, that’s all. If Ladder char craft some specific ladder RW, at the end of the ladder, these items became NL items.
But, you are right for D2R, like dev explain in this video, on each ladder, we’ll have new RW and the craft will be possible for NL character after each season.
For example, the RW of S1 will be possible for NL character after the end of season 1, RW of S2, after end of S2 etc.
It’s not the same mechanic between D2 Legacy and D2R.

I did, though I have to admit that once they started the ladder, I never went back to nl. Partly because some of the seasons were really long, like 2+ years if I remember correctly.
Anyway, the developers talked about it in the vid, and made it pretty clear that nl will get those rws, after the season is over.
I remember trying to craft an insight or spirit in non ladder after a season. It didn’t work at all. I’m guessing this has changed then. I do like the idea of only ladder craft able items ( I never really played ladder). It gives nl peeps something to trade for!
Sorry for long time… But i was try making Flickering Flame on my Non-ladder Char and not work… New runewords cant be crafted on non-ladder mode…
blizzard should make us able to make the new runewords as they said. still waiting for them to allow us.
Bumping this, I tried making Flickering Flame using an NL character today (I didn’t do ladder, either), and didn’t get the runeword.

After Season 1 / with the begin of Season 2, it was not possible do create the Season1 only ladder rune word ,flickering flame’ in non-ladder.
some guy wasted his vex rune to try it. nearly i did the same ^^
