Can i die on HC in Echoing Nightmares?

I was not able to find answer anywhere.

If death is inevitable in Echoing Nightmares, will death of HC char here be permanent?

If yes, i don’t see any reason why make HC character this season.

In the PTR Forums there was our feedback they have to change it, i don’t see how to play these mechanics in hc. At least it looks like blizzard don’t want us hc players…

So, right now, answer is YES - HC player death in Echoing nightmare is permanent. So game mechanics, where target is to fight untill you die, will lead to loss of character. Hm, clever…

This is an issue which was brought up when people tested the Echoing Nightmare on the PTR. Then the EN was made even tougher by adding rare monsters, making monsters immune to CC and effects like molten explosions and meteors, of which the latter one could oneshot any player. Then after the PTR they made it even tougher by replacing shield pylon with speed pylon and making enemies no longer drop gold, killing the possibility of using Glodwrap for toughness.

There’s no way to escape EN until you’re overwhelmed or dead. The latter one is often the more common case. It would’ve fine if taking fatal damage wouldn’t kill the player but rather just end the EN immediately, just like set dungeons. HC players of course sometimes are eager to remind that permadeath is a key part of the HC mode but that also means there are reasonable means for the players to avoid death. The EN provides barely any means, it takes away most of them.

You don’t have to, or need to die in ENs as softcore. The event ends when you are “overwhelmed” (when the bar is full). So you can end it if you stop fighting and just run around and avoid getting killed. (Kirottu beat me to it).

Don’t know if there is a safe way for HC to do ENs and stop them in time. The speed and channel pylons might help but who wants to test it out?

I plan to test it out (with 3 supports, I am not suicidal)

I’m curious if this is intentional or a oversight that will be fixed later in season.
If its intentional i probebly should start a SC caracter for the first time in many years…
Its hard to imagine blizz screwing over HC players intentionally though…so i have hope it will be fixed.

Sadly, i see it same way - i am creating HC char every season, but when they made this, i don’t see clever reason to play HC this time.

I know, HC is about safe play style and do not try more, than you can handle. But according to season 26 theme description, this time it is exactly about FIGHT UNTIL YOU DIE. It is literally written there. So what would be reason to play HC…? Sad, but true.

Let’s face it - This time Blizz said FU to HC-players, I cant see it any way else.
I’ll play journey through and that it, sad sad ‘Anniversery’ for this game. And I WONT BUY ANY GAMES FROM HERE.

And yes - this includes Diablo 4 - You can stick that in Your a$$ and cover with sugar but IT WILL BE SH!T …

And this would be the last visit on EU-forums anyway, this has been a joke for few years already. Kick out all employers and buy new hardware for servers. They didnt do anything anyway and from my point of view , total waste of skin…

Maybe a dumb question but I am asking because I haven’t progressed that far yet to try echoing nightmares. Do the cheat death passive and the follower’s last skill that prevents death work inside Echoing Nightmares? Or is it, receiving fatal damage means instant end of the EN?

I would think that the cheat deaths work… The us forum can probably answer this. Or find some youtube videos where the echoing nightmares are shown by Raxx, Wudi, Saluter and the lot. Wudi plays HC solo.
I’ve only done 1 EN (found 3 screams before pragon 650) in softcore, didn’t notice if my awareness or the templar cheat death procced before getting overwhelmed at 130.

The follower cheat deaths do work. I just did my first EN of the season and the passive procced.

Just happened to see a vid by Raxx called: Dying to Absolutely NOTHING in the Echoing Nightmare Diablo 3 Season 26
Where he dies in a 4 man softcore group.
