So D2 had up to 8 players with 8 additional merc…20 years ago. D3 has at most 4 players and no extra mercs. I just wonder why? Since it was possible 20 years ago why did they not continue this as having 8 players plus mercs would of made for a hell of a light show.
Without being an expert, D3 has a small thing called area damage that can lag the entire game apparently so think what would happen if 8 dps characters joined a game. Lol, even now it can be terrible at times. Not saying that your statement is wrong or anything. On the contrary you should expect some simple “in theory” stuff to be solved like more stash, more heroes but for whatever technical reason there aren’t. Bad programming? Stiff code? Who knows.
Because D2 was at 800x600 res with ugly pixel graphics.
I get what you are saying Meteor but the Pc’s of the time could handle that as can the PC’s of today handle todays graphics. what i am suggesting is if that is like for like then the newer games should be able to compensate.
It’s not the graphics, it’s the damage calculations and other much more demanding stuff going on in the background. The servers can barely handle 4 players in the same session.
