Normal>magic>rare>set>legendary>ancient >mythic ,rares rolls the highest attack/defense. Legendary rolls abit weaker attack/defense but with a stronger legendary affix. And i think ancients must be reworked to the use of 1 ancient power instead of legendary they will be all new like the mythic still with weaker attack/defense rolls. As for the mythics they could go on pair with the rares since u can only equip 1. And make the affixes really stand out and the legendary/ancient/mythic powers unique. And for spoilers try to make all the unique powers unique and useful and set items just set items that only gain benefit if used as a set but still weaker as 1 rare and ancient items need a color of their own.
Rares rolling higher affixes than legendaries seems silly and counter-intuitive, i would rather they make the legendaries a clear upgrade over lower tier items, in all aspects of the item. The same way that mythics are a clear upgrade over regular legendaries in every way.
Its the way diablo 2 classic used to work before they introduced lod and the uber runeword system its the best solution to make all grades work but i wil only say it once. They can still make the objects unidentified to keep the same hunting gear thrill for rares.
No you deluded PoS, that’s how it should be. The items worked completely differently. Uniques could have stats not normally found on that type of armor, rares had more affixes with lower rolls and magic items had higher rolls but fewer affixes. That’s perfect. You’re a “Diablo” 3 loser and you should GTFO
Please for the love of the High Heavens, we do not need a garbage, ubiquitous “main stat” to function as a persistent gear check. Not every item needs Attack or Defense. They should be used on slots only where they make sense.
How about you explain yourself a little further more, because im only trying to go with the current game mechanics so what is your idea then?
My idea is that not every item has a generic +Damage modifier on it. D2 did just fine without every item saying “Weapon and Spell Damage Increased by X%” (the equivalent of the Attack mod essentially).
Similarly, if all weapons are dropping with a Defense modifier, the game is not going in the right direction on itemization, in my view.
I’m not saying for Rares not to have high raw values, but I’m picking out that one underlying assumption about Attack/Defense modifiers themselves.
That said, I do prefer Magic items having the absolute highest raw values (but just 1 Prefix & 1 Suffix), Rares having second highest (generally) and a higher number of affixes, allowing for some best-in-slot combinations, Sets being a midgame stepping stone, and uniques/mythics having modifiers not available on other items.
I also don’t think ancients need to exist.
I know where your going, but mate Magic items only had the highest raw values because they were easy to get but in d2 classic you had the yellow items also with the same high value as magic but just really hard to find that said they could compare with the legendarys and mythics magics just cant what good use does it do to have 1 blue item in a slot for 100 life its just a walk to the stairs item, therefor ancients could bring a step past legendary and mythics past ancients. i like depth to a game and the way they allready created magic items in previous diablos was with just like 1 or 2 prefixes and suffixes which is way to low for a game like diablo 4 because the game goes indeed further away then a hell difficulty which could be a bad thing so they need to rework everything again i personally would like to see normal-nightmare-hell-inferno settings so my idea would be great your idea would be great for diablo 2 yes. thats why you were done around level 60 on hell leaving a gap for a new tier, thats why ancients and mythics new skills levels and talents. harder monsters all the way to level 99. theoretically they could come up with 2 more tiers and even higher levels and gear skills talents monsters to make the game last longer but yeah they stuck at level 40 for diablo 4 so i dont know with expansions to come.
thats why i dont like the mindless paragon systems with nothing new to add and end like new skills talents and gear. they should just make it perfect to level 100 which should be enough fully maxed and worked out. diablo 4 is still only half assed. ok maybe 65% but. you get my point.
Personally I think it’s a bit premature to talk about blues being stronger than a legendary in their one stat. The bigger question is: How many legendaries will their be and how do they drop?
If we have 500 legendaries in game and a global drop ratio of 1%, then your going to find legendaries and lots of them to the point that you could use 2 legendaries to replace 2 magic and give you better overall stats (unless both magic were boost to a single stat), even if you weren’t that keen on the legendaries themselves.
I believe that the legendaries and above should only be droppable by specific monsters or in specific areas and that such information could be found out in game. This would reveal more about the game whilst also allowing people to focus on farming certain spots for a legendary they want.
Finally I will say I hate the idea of blues being better than legendaries since it’s counter intuitive and creates weird metagame areas. I would be upset… massively upset, if after spending hours to find a legendary item that fits my build and gives me good support, for someone to then say, actually you could buy a blue item from that shop that’s even better for what you want to do. I feel that the game should reward players who spend hours playing the game looking for the rarest equipment rather than the metagamer who looks at the items stats then just buys a blue item because it surpasses the legendary for all intents. I hate that D2 was like this, where I could find a legendary staff, get excited and then realised that it’s worse than the archangels staff I had equipped.
While I don’t mind if rare return to possibly be the best in slot item, I truly hope that they don’t go the current D4 abbreviated attack/defense system. I’d rather the rares look more of D2/PoE style.
