Diablo IV - Boss instakill mechanics - (from concerned longtime fan)

Hello and good afternoon,

I am simply reaching out after watching the gameplay trailer for diablo 4, specifically the clip where the Duriel-looking creature, (maybe the actual duriel,) casts a skill which stabs a player and locks him into the stomach of the beast.

Now I hope I am not the only one who thinks that was ducking awesome!!, but it reminded me of concept gameplay trailers of diablo 3, where the siegebreaker assault beast, (as he turned out to be,) basically made a grab and the player in the video was caught by the attack after wrong positioning, which resultet in the decapitation and instant death of the player. As we all know now, those kinds of mechanics were never even tried in the actual release of the game, and I remember being deeply saddened to the core and very dissapointed after finishing the initial game and realizing this.

To me the earlier gameplay trailers had given me a lot of hope, that diablo 3 would have made something new, they would have explored new mechanics enabling players to meaningfully interact with the environment and monsters like never before. It didn’t happen and I don’t know why.

SO I’m writing this in hopes to have the community backup that I need to ensure that blizzard takes this desire for revolutionizing gameplay seriously.
As i said I really hope I am not the only one here.

Some of you might be concerned and think “but what about hardcore, wont that be insane if there are instakill mechanics?”, well yes, but it doesent necesarrily have to be instakill. It could be negative effect really as an effect of the player getting caught in the wrong move. It really would up the whole bossfight scene, instead of it always just being the same old “don’t stand in the fire or you take damage”. It could be that you had to stand and disable certain nodes, to cc the boss, or else there would be a big explosion, who knows?

Alternatively it could even be a gamemode in itself on par with hardcore, if it turns out to be a nuisance for some players.

Peace and love be among you all,
and may you have a nice day!

Interesting idea that: often cinematics are not part of the game play but present an animated narrative of the story: however that been said; it would be n=very interesting to behold hey bud :::)).

I hope that they go beyond the norm for this game & introduce modern & future warfare characters. Even enabling individuals to research items in-depth like in rust and have the process accelerated by having the whole clan contribute to researching items & skills!

Peace & Love.

Honestly I find it mindboggling, that you can call what I’m talking about cinematics… I get that you want to try and mock me, by saying I’m asking for too much, but really this isn’t even an idea of mine, it is what blizzard themselves showed in the past as gameplay trailers. OH yes, not cinematics buddy… Gameplay… So please don’t be such a hater. I get that you might be content playing fortnite, but for the rest of us, who come from vanilla days it just gets dissapointing to get one limited, shallow disney creation after the other, designed only to be a pretty shell of a game, without any real content of gameplay.
That said, so far I think Diablo 4 looks promising, I just wish those concept gameplay trailers will be actual gameplay and not just another hook to reel us in.

well hi from the future they still havent fixed this insta kill mechanics with .5 second timers reaction timers with indicators that are always hidden by player abilities
