Does d4 have statpoints?

Was this mentioned somewhere? I hope we get the d1/d2 stat point system. Not the d3 system though it was ok. Just dont do a vanilla d3 statpoint system, assigning points is fun!

This utters on what one of my thoughts and hopes will be - Bigger inventory, Point stats to put into your Health or Vita, strength, dexterity, mana, or focus or in the Barbarians case rage or fury, Bigger skill tree and more talents to choose from.
Otherwise Demo looks very appealing!

Skill points confirmed! Check icy veins Official Feature Overview and Q&a.

thats skill points not stat points. Stat points increase HP, strength, dex, intellect, etc. Stat point allocation would be a good addition.

ugh! being the n00b I am, imma only roll them wrong and when playing public first time on level 70 I realise that I need to reroll my character, re roll and then realise my first was kind of good anyway and then just roll 10 guys from the same class all with different speciality stat so I can change between them to fit in a team in PvE instead of getting vote kicked because I did not level movement speed and health globe radius thorn syncronize or something non interesting that actually is the META like leveling unarmed combat and movement speed so we can play Sugar Raybarian from the beginning of the game and not level anything except for those stats and maybe vitality.

pls D3 system or anything else than assigning permanent stat points… D2 fans can go to PoE that probably would have a lot of new interesting patches by then.

Ye I went to bed and saw the gameplay, it was indeed just skills not stats. Sad.

Well then reroll and learn. Ern not being a noob. Nothing comes without a effort. When you will learn you will be able to teach others the proper way. NO D3 system. We are not snowflakes and finishing last does not give a reward.

You still would do something like this in d4 because of the talent system. So you are already in for such scenario already. Everyone knows talent trees ends up being cookie cutter builds. Thats why many rpgs stopped using “trees”.

Yeah, that’s why D3 is reknowned for not knowing cookie cutter builds, right ?

There are no Stat Points in the game currently, just skill and talent points.

So items, sockets and talents are all the source of stats players get.
What we get is what we are (mostly). That’s how we roll.

what precisely is the “proper way”?

Didn’t you hear in the Blizzcon panels that they want to restore the Play Your Own Way model through you own choices as opposed to developer choices imposed upon you through sets.

I actually feel vindicated by this move.:grinning:

I heard. Got me smile.
I see it this way:
We get less something that would in the end give us imaginary guideline we are forced to follow, “do these or do wrong” and instead this combination of luck and decision.

I think that in D4 loot will be more important than ever before.
Spells have no synergy (D2) and no different variations (D3) but in D4 those synergies and variations are all covered by the items, just like item stats. So more tinkering, decisions and luck is replacing this old system where you just fill requirements and choose the obvious
I like it.
Still blizz should combine skills to talent tree, no particular reason.

No attributes since this isn’t a Diablo II sequel.

Where exactly is the decision making, when all you get your stats from (and not even Str, Dex, Int, …) is items, which automatically tell you, which item is stronger by little green and red arrows?

Im not saying, assigning 5 stat points per level is super important, but an RPG without any stats would be really no RPG anymore. I mean, if you don’t like character depth, then D3 should be totally fine to you, right?

Green arrows like in D3? :stuck_out_tongue: leveling from 1 to 70 is so fast that I don’t even check what I get. I just look at the green arrows  and equip only increasing damage.

They promised heavy modification and crafting, said: “more than previous games”. Drop-rates are lower and rares matter. Player has to know what is best for him at the time and even if something is less, it’s abilities may still serve better for other reasons.
I see myself (after years of waiting) trying to add stats to some rare gear only to get just another step closer towards my goals even if I’m not sure that it would be enough… something this would be lovely. Decisions, tinkering and some luck for the dessert

I had mixed feelings about Attack/Defence. Now that I know that base for calculations is pure damage in skills, i’m satisfied.

Wut, that makes no sense, they even added attributes/statpoints in ROS d3. XD

Adding points in D2 sucked. D3 is the best.

Yeah… if you dont wanna play an RPG, but pure action hack’n’slay

Why? Adding points was a part of both d1 and d2. only d3 didnt have it before ROS. But the ROS system is a bit pointless as you dont really have a choice except for the 2-3 options which are eternal by looks of it.
