does diablo 3 need any internet connection in ps4 for single player mode?

Yes you can play without internet connection. However, you still want to go online at some point if you want to get an update or a patch. Otherwise you will be missing some stuff added to the game or any other significant change. Every 3 or 4 months, there is a big update followed usually by a season.
