Hey guys. How do you upgrade staff of Herding in season 33? I’m on the “Primal Evil” quest in act IV and the vendor doesn’t offer me the plans to buy off him on any difficulty. And like all the info online is from years ago, nothing from this season. Does anyone know what to do to get the plans to upgrade staff of herding? Please help.

What do you mean by “to upgrade staff of herding” ?
Do you mean you already have a Staff of Herding and would like to upgrade it to a Nightmarish Staff of Herding ?
If so, it’s no longer possible (nor required) to do that… since about 2014… according to this source.

If, on the other hand, you have all the materials to craft a Staff of Herding and are only missing the plan, then you will need to kill Izual in Act IV. If you are lucky, the plan for the Staff of Herding will drop. If not, try again.

Thanks for the reply. Aye, I have the staff of herding already. I wish to go a higher difficulty level of Whimsyshire. Could you please tell me how to do that? Don’t tell me the difficulty on torment 16 is the max difficulty it will be because that’s too easy and the drop is bad for being the “top level” of Whimsyshire.
If I told you otherwhise, I’d be lying… so yeah, Whimsyshire at Torment 16 is the highest difficulty level. The drops aren’t very good in Whimsyshire, when compared to Vision portals this season, or even Whimsydale (random portal when you kill a rainbow goblin)… but it’s the only way to get the rainbow portrait.
Once you have the Rainbow portrait… there aren’t really any reason to go into Whimsydale.

"Well damn… That’s a real shame… I already got the rainbow portrait. I was just looking for better drops to get my primal ancient gear. Thanks for the info bud and good luck to you as well in your games. I wish I talked to you before my hours long effort to clear the whole story just to access the quest you used to need to buy the plans to upgrade the staff.
