I watched the D4 cinematic and was like… Woohoo. And then naturally followed with the gameplay… And was like “The hell is this?”. It literally looks like path of exile. This is what you came up with? Ros came out 2014. This is literally not even in an early alpha and will probably come out in some 3-4 years… IT LOOKS DATED ALREADY. What engine did you use for this game? Diablo 2 remastered™? The spell effects are simply put Primark quality, characters move like they shat themselves. When we said we don’t want the cartoonish look of Diablo 3, we didn’t mean remove the colour from the game… LITERALLY. It’s so pale, it’s nearly black and white. Heck, remove the sound and let’s go back to the 60’s. When you released the d3 gameplay what we saw is what we got. Don’t even think about releasing this garbage as shown at blizzcon. In 2027 when you release the game - I expect to stress my ryzen 10 9900xxxx and my nvidia rgxms 8080ti to their limit, not dust off my old athlon. “BUT HEY, WE’RE GIVING YOU RUNES BACK, AND-AND-AND SKILL TREES”. And? You think that’s enough in 2019? A path of exile spin off and runes. Hell to the no.
Well, i think its hard to make a game look much better in overhead view like arpgs. You need to be much closer to notice details that higher graphics gives like fps games you can go much further with. I think its really much harder making it look much better. I thought about this some days ago about how they could make it look much better than Diablo 3, since you won’t see it as much as in a fps game och closer-to-ground games. It probably takes much more time doing something look better in these kind of games for the players than other sort of games like fps games.
Well, everyone wanted it to be much less clutter and more “darkness and gory” and that kinda what we got, many wants it even more darker than it is right now. Compare to Diablo 1/2 where you had light radius for example. I think that they do it quite good in Diablo 4 if you look up some screenshots to compare since you can’t post links in this forum…

You can post links… one way is to transform them into preformatted text; to do that:
- put the link as you would normally in your text,
- highlight the link completely,
- click the </> button on the formatting bar.
The links won’t be “clickable”, but your readers will be able to copy paste them in their browser.
Using the two links you have in your post, those would be:

Are you kidding me? People like you have been screaming for years that you want again see the old-school dark atmosphere of Diablo I and Diablo II, and now that we will have it again in Diablo IV, you complain about it? I guess there’s no pleasing everyone. If you hate it so much, go start your own gaming company and release something better that will make D4 look like pac-man, ok?
I for one am absolutely thrilled by what I’ve seen so far.
While I am hoping that Diablo IV will run on the same hardware as does Diablo III, I’ve already started making plans for an upgrade to my current hardware setup. I’ll just have to wait and see what Blizzard says about minimum hardware requirements.

It’s nice that it is darker, but the colours really looked washed. However, we should note that this is an early alpha version and we are ‘watching’ the gameplay. When you play it should be a bit different.
Agreed there, it is all still work in progress but for that, I really like it so far.
People always Whine,if not like play something else
Oh no no no nonono! Blizz do NOT listen to this man, do not dare touching the colour palette, it’s finally (FINALLY) accurate, grounded, grim, gothic. Diablo 3 was an aberration of colour, and D4 has finally set things right. DO NOT change the colour palette!
OP please stop, you either 14year with zero experience in what Diablo is all about or just a a guy who bash everything for no reason, this game looks sick and it is what we wanted for years, D4 looks like the true followup on Diablo 2, If you are here to claim POE is better, leave the forums save yourself the time and get the F out of here and go and play POE.
Just want to thank Blizzard for listening and understanding what we wanted from Diablo, this was over my expectation, if anything make it even darker, lower the glow from spells, we dont want to be able to see what hiding on top left corner in a dungeon by casting glowy spells, make it more like Diablo 1 dark.
(casting hydra in diablo 2 light up very small area, perfect radius)
You are most Welcome. It was our pleasure.
So far the game look awesome
The game looks good. It has that gothic feeling that was lost in D3. I like the skill tree and the talent tree. I hope they will improve the rune system, the 2 piece combination dosn’t look/feel ok.
Wonder what crafting will look like and the gem system should be interesting. Release will be at the earliest 2021 q4 so there is time to improve.
Nothing to be disappointed in, it doesn’t hit the spot for you but for me it hits the bullseye many times over. Very happy in the game direction (as long as the PvP isn’t forced) and I am looking forward to it. Getting on in years now, played original diablo back in the day and amazes me to see the progression of games now. The core of a good game is its playability and replayability. Massive thumbs up from me but please don’t make me wait too long as grandfather time isn’t slowing down
Diablo 4 is indeed darker than 3, but still not scary…
we are still the equivalent to superheroes killing hordes like they are nothing,
we don’t feel alone and afraid vs an unforgiving world
and because it’s an mmo you’ll actually see other “superheroes” all around you, making the world a joke.
In short it’s completely different from d1 or d2 where you feel like just a weak dude vs hell itself,
they should have taken a hint from games like dark souls or bloodborne… make it scary…
blizzard dark is just a bunch of gore and blood with no real substance, no real fear invoking.
So Kallizk, you’ve already played the game in solo mode on the highest difficulty and met some of the bosses?
The moment i saw ingame shorts i knew thats a far from Diablo experience.
I’m really not sure what you were looking for. Hopefully you find the game you’re looking for, because (let’s be honest) there is plenty of success to go around. There are a lot of games out there and more on the way.
Isometric view is a large part of an arpg, and I think they’ve done a great job so far with the graphics. They delivered what we asked for, and gone a step further by rolling out the camera view and allowing world event bosses to be a reality.
Since the announcement, there have been a lot of PoE players insecure about the game they play just trying to rain on our parade. I’m not saying that’s you, but it’s annoying, at best. You didn’t offer any real possible solutions. Just a lot of insults. Other than wanting to “stress” your hardware I didn’t see any suggestions on how they could make it better. That’s the kind of feedback that may help.
I got hands-on time with the demo yesterday (played sorceress), and it is right in line with what I was hoping for. It’s dark and ominous, the graphics and visuals are beautiful, the voicing and quest storytelling is imersive and the gameplay is smooth. I like the evade mechanics and am looking forward to the mounts gameplay.
The video may have been underwhelming, but I’d recommend reserving judgement for when you get to actually play it.
I, for one, am buying it asap. I’m already sold on it.
It is always good to hear when somebody likes our game. Thanks a million Knifetwister for your feedback, it is highly appreciated.
