It is already 22nd season, and the ring " Broken Promises "is still not usable

As the title says, Diablo3 has been playing for 22 seasons, but the “Broken Promises” ring is still one of the most unused rings in the game.

There is only one main reason for this: Blizzard has not yet made a display of the buff that the ring gives in the game interface.

At the moment, the only possible place in the game interface where you can find out whether the buff has been activated or not is the inventory menu. It turns out like this: If I want to use this ring, then I must constantly keep the inventory tab open, otherwise I will not be able to find out in time the moment the buff from the ring is activated. And this means that the third part of the game window will be occupied by a window that is useless for the game itself, which is VERY inconvenient and constantly knocks down when choosing a route for the character. It also overlaps other details of the game interface and the game itself becomes impossible. But I repeat - this is the ONLY possible use of the buff that the ring gives.

For those who do not know what kind of Pokemon this “Broken Promises” is, I give a description of its properties (you can see the ring itself, if you wish, on the official website of the game or in the game itself).

This information shows the property of the ring, namely the buff “After 5 consecutive non-critical hits, your chance to critically hit is increased to 100% for 3 seconds”. The whole problem at the moment is that these 3 seconds of the buff from this ring are actually skipped by the player, since he cannot say exactly when this buff occurred.

I suggest that Blizzards FINALLY, in Diablo3 Season 22, add the icon for displaying this ring’s buff to the player’s buffs panel in the same way as they did with other rings and amulets, which give a temporary buff.

For example, consider the “Halo of Karini” mage ring. If lightning from the “Storm Armor” skill hits a target 15 meters from the hero and further, then a buff appears giving an increased reduction in incoming damage. This buff is displayed on the player’s buff panel as an image of the “Halo of Karini” ring with an animation of the expiration of the buff from this ring.

All that is required from Blizzard programmers is to do the “Copy and paste” actions only by slightly correcting the objects for which the code is written. It’s a ten minute job, it doesn’t require any updates on the game’s server and only requires players to download a couple of megabytes of patch.

These actions will move the Broken Promises ring from the list of “completely useless and inconvenient rings” to the list of “underestimated and testable”.

I REALLY hope that in 2020, in Season 22 of Diablo3, I can FINALLY be able to test the game with this ring!
Be Santa Claus and give me, good boy, a gift in the form of this damn buff icon! :innocent:

5% CHC - A level 70 hero’s native CHC
5% CHC - From Paragon points in the Offensive category
30% CHC - Easy to obtain from gear, e.g. 10% weapon 1, 10% weapon 2, 8% shoulders, 8% gloves, 6% ring

So, that’s 40% CHC before you factor in any build / ability specific buffs that raise it.

For the ring to proc, you have to get 5 consequitive non-crits.

With a 40% CHC, the chances of that are…
Chance of a crit = 0.4
Chance of a non-crit = 0.6
Chance of 5 hits, none of which are crits = (0.6)^5 = 0.07776

That’s around 1 in 13 sets of 5 hits would result in the ring proc’ing.

So, the reason it’s not used has nothing to do with a lack of indication of when it has proc’d, and everything to do with the fact that it just doesn’t proc often enough to be worthwhile, and that it procs less the better your CHC is.

Your post is not relevant to the topic.
P.S. Discuss possible builds with this ring elsewhere. The theme was created to attract the attention of the Blizzards, since they have not decided this issue for a couple of years, and not turn into a holy war on the topic “whose build is better”.

This is a discussion forum. There is no dedicated “suggestion” forum. Maybe your ideas will come to the attention of the developers, maybe not.
I seem to remember that Broken Promises could be used in a monk build many years ago and you should have as little crit chance as possible on your hero for it to work.

  1. The reason you claim the ring isn’t used.
  2. The actual reason the ring isn’t used.

How is pointing out the discrepancy between these irrelevant?

With the exception of Thorns-based builds, you’re going to struggle to find any non-support build at all that doesn’t have at least 40% CHC in it. That means the ring is useless to all of those builds and, in a thorns build, it’s completely pointless as Thorns cannot crit.

I didn’t mention any specific build. I’m telling you the real reason the ring isn’t used rather than the reason you think it isn’t used. By all means make a suggestion for how to change the ring, but don’t base those changes on an underlying reason that’s wrong.

By the way, you’re more likely to get any interest what-so-ever on the US General Discussion forum, as we haven’t had any blue posts on the EU forums for months.

Fixing the displays of a worthless buff is practically irrelevant too. So just close the thread, it’s not relevant.
