I’m always puzzled when I see suggestions like this, as you’re asking for recipes that convert hard to obtain materials into easy to obtain materials.
Here’s what my non-seasonal materials are like…
If I wanted to do Cube reforges, the limiting factor is always going to be Bounty materials.
If I wanted to do Cube upgrades, the limiting factor is always going to be Death’s Breaths.
Forgotten Souls come from salvaging legendaries which give different amounts of souls depending on rarity, i.e.
- Primal ancient legendary = 15 souls
- Ancient legendary = 3 souls
- Legendary = 1 soul
Legendary rarities have different drop rates, i.e.
- Primal ancient legendary = 1 in 400
- Ancient legendary = 40 in 400
- Legendary = 359 in 400
So, on average, for every 400 legendaries found, this many souls are obtained…
- Primal ancient legendary = 1 * 15 = 15 souls
- Ancient legendary = 40 * 3 = 120 souls
- Legendary = 359 * 1 = 359
That’s a total of 494 souls per 400 legendaries, i.e. an average of 1.235 souls per legendary
Okay, so why is this all relevant to your suggestion? Well, here goes…
If you go to Act V, Battlefields of Eternity and click on the armour racks, grey / white items drop out. Pick these up until your Inventory is full. As some items will be 1 square (e.g. belts, rings, amulets), you’ll probably average around 35 white items before you run out of space. Go back to town and salvage these. They salvage into 8-12 white materials each, so let’s say 35 * 10 = 350 white materials.
Each run like that can be done in a speed build, game difficulty doesn’t matter, so let’s say 3 minutes per run. Let’s say that exiting and re-starting the game takes another 30 seconds. So, 3 minutes 30 seconds per run. That’d be 17 runs an hour, but let’s factor in cups of tea, toilet breaks, and so on, and say 15 runs in an hour.
Okay, so 15 runs an hour, gaining 350 materials per run, gains you 15 * 350 = 5250 white materials. Now you use the Cube’s existing recipe that lets you convert materials to evenly split those between white / blue / yellow materials. That gets you 1750 of each material. In an hour.
Now, let’s say your suggested recipe gives materials at a 1:10 ratio of Forgotten Souls to white, yellow or blue materials. 5250 / 10 = 525. Now remember that we get 1.235 souls per legendary, so that’s 525/1.235 = 425 legendaries.
I doubt you’re farming anything quick enough to get 425 legendaries in an hour. Heck, even if you’re speed-running GRs in 2 minutes per run, and they drop 12 legendaries per guardian (that’s the maximum), that’s 30 runs in an hour, which is 360 legendaries.
If you want common materials (white / blue / yellow) then farm whites and convert. Don’t convert things you only get from legendaries.
