Loot specialisation possible?

I have been trying for like two days to get the Wastes set for my Barb so as to try the WW build. I only have 4 pieces after many 1000s Blood Shards gambled, maybe I am in the tens of thousands by now. I have got lots of Immortal and Earth, but it seems Wastes is on a lower chance. Anyway be it as I “farm” doing GR60s with my Necro, would it not be great to have a “loot specialisation” option just as in WoW, to allow the Necro’s loot to be (more) specific to the Barb?

You can use “upgrade rare to legendary” recipe of the cube as well. It is more efficient to use this recipe than blood shard for certain items.

If you have spare pieces of a set, you can use the “convert set item” recipe of the cube to get missing items of the same set.

I don’t think so. Don’t make thing complicated. The current system works fine. Just farm blood shard/DB with necro and spend them by your barb.

There are higher priority tasks for the devs.

Yes of course I do that, and this is mainly what I am saving the DBs for.

That recipe requires 25 DBs with each roll, and for me DBs are very hard to get. 25 Dbs are the equivalent of 12.5 elite packs (2 each pack), whereas a solo GR 60 gives me about 310 blood shards in maybe 6-8 mins and in that time I encounter may be 4-6 elite packs (with Nemesis bracers).

Edit: I JUST got the chest I was missing from Kadala! So now I can try the WW build.

On another note, specific amulets and rings are very hard to come by, for example I have been running countless GRs on my Necro and still not found a second (or third) Wisdom of Kalan, I only have one.

Since 2.6.6, the Sage set double DB and add a belt to the set.

You can use it together with your farming build to double DB profit. At T16, each elite drops 6-8 DB. Greed’s vault and any rift may drop a hundred of DB.

For amulets and rings, since there are many of them, so getting the ones you want is much harder than other items. Blood shard cost is very high. DB is a better choice.

Yeah I got the Sage’s but my “farming” build is Inarius Necro and I can only do GR60 / T13. I cannot even think about T16 yet.

Equip 5 pieces of Inarius, 2 pieces of Sage, Ring of Royal Grandeur (so you get the 6-piece bonus of Inarius and 3-piece bonus of Sage) and at T13 elites would normally drop 2-3 DBs will now drop 4-6 DBs.

If you want more elites and the drops they give then nemesis bracers is also a good option (in cube or equipped). Nemesis can also give faster progression in rifts and grifts - if your build is strong enough.

It is almost exactly like that currently - except the Sage’s pieces. I presume the best way to gamble for rings and amulets is by using DBs so I will give it a go.

I can see that you’re using Stricken as one of your gems. This is a bad choice. Stricken essentially only works on one enemy at the time. So if you’re fighting a big group of elites and thrash only a single monster gets the extra, accumulated damage. When that monster is dead, or you move on to another group, the buff is then applied to another, single, monster. Stricken is therefore best used if you’re in a group and have the role as a specialized rift guardian killer, or when you do GRs that are so high that you can’t kill the guardian before the timer runs out.

In addition to what Jazz mentions about legendary gems, I’d also comment on your choice of gems for your chest / legs. You’ve taken Diamonds, which grant All Resist. However, as an Intelligence-based class, the Necromancer is already naturally high in All Resist, as 1/10th of your INT is gained as All Resist. This means you’re much better using Topazes, which grant you Intelligence as this gives you more damage. At extremely high paragon, where you already have huge amounts of INT, you might even take Rubies or Emeralds in those slots as every point of STR / DEX gives a point of Armour (a stat INT heroes are naturally low in) for extra mitigation.

First thing you need to do is find a better scythe, i.e. ancient. Until then, re-roll the bleed affix on your current scythe to VIT (if you’re having trouble staying alive) or 10% damage (if you’re struggling for enough damage).

Many thanks. I wish there was a “guide” where you can input your character and it tells you the best way forward!

But as I mentioned on another thread, I finally got the 5th Wastes piece for my Barb, and have been playing the WW Barb since. d3planner does not show the cubed ring for some reason, but it is the Royal Grandeaur. With this barb I can now “farm” GR65 (it was GR60 with the Necro).

So based on the comments above I will replace the Striken with something else, even on the barb.

As usual find the icy vein barbarian whirlwind build

It may sound boring or limiting all this “go look for the build guide” whether it’s on youtube or elsewhere but that’s the way things are and there are often several builds and variations with smaller or greater differences to choose from.

Usually, that would be fine advice. However, in this case I’d suggest…
