New patch notes

No one noticed new patch notes out. Wizz looks interestingwith hydras

I think (Speaking as a main WD) the WD, in combination with the new theme, is more interesting :grinning:

New theme looks nice, but i dont play season

Well, Nevalistis said on the US forums a couple of days ago that the PTR wouldn’t be until next week so wasn’t expecting PTR (or notes) until then. Here’s a link to the notes though…

Looks like I’ll be hitting things in the face with Frenzy come Thursday, testing out the new Barbarian set. I’ll make a nice big pot of tea for the testing…

And Crimson’s Trimmings will be guaranteed :+1:

Yeah, this new Wizard set sounds interesting, and may even get me to play the Wizard again which I have not done for a long time.

Looking forward to try the new WD set, but I wish Wall Of Death was buffed instead. Also I wonder what DH build will be able to benefit from the next Season theme.

Further reading of the patch notes have me concerned for the new Barb set.

The 2-piece damage bonus relies on enemies being feared. Feared enemies are running away from the Barb, i.e. if you fear them, they’re no longer in range for you to hit them, so doubling the damage they would take is irrelevant as you can’t hit them.

Feared mobs means you have to run after them to continue hitting them. That means it’s very easy to lose your Frenzy stacks, which means you lose your mitigation. So, chasing down fleeing mobs means you’re vulnerable.

Okay, how about Juggernauts and Guardians? Well, they’re immune to crowd control, which includes fears, so whilst you may have had a damage bonus versus the trash mobs, you get nothing against the guardian.

I’ll be testing this starting Thursday, but this already sounds like an exercise in frustration, especially as the theorycrafting is suggesting weaponry as Oathkeeper + Echoing Fury equipped with Bastion in Cube, thereby generating even more fears.

The PTR patch notes have changed… at least as far as the 2-Piece bonus on the Barbarian set is concerned…

  • New Class Set: Horde of the Ninety Savages

    • 2-Piece Bonus: Double the effectiveness of all Shouts. Feared Enemies take double damage.
    • 4-Piece Bonus: Each stack of Frenzy reduces damage taken by 5%.
    • 6-Piece Bonus: Frenzy deals 1000% increased damage per stack.
New Class Set: Horde of the Ninety Savages

Patch 2.6.8 PTR Has Ended - Diablo III

I don’t see any changes compared to when this was first published.

It still says double-damage against feared mobs, which means we’re still running after mobs in a melee range build and the bonus doesn’t work against Guardians.

(There’s also no updated date stamp on the blog, which happens if it’s edited)

Isn’t the part about the doubling of the effectiveness of all shouts new… I don’t remember that part.

hmmm… maybe not… I must be getting old… :flushed: …
