Primal Salvaging - flinging ideas

Hey there!
Just bringing back an idea / proposal from the past by myself and other D3 players. Please, keep it friendly :slight_smile: This is just a theory discussion, which is NOT to be taken as ‘whining’ , ‘begging’ , ‘critisizing devs’, etc.
First of all let me say that I’m quite familiar with Primal Ancient topics and I have nothing against the current methods of obtaining Primals as I play often enough. I had my fair share of primals that ended up salvaged so I propose something more than just mere 15 Forgotten Souls as a reward.
In other words, I wish to give players who enjoy the game but have limited time to spend a fighting chance to at least feel somewhat well equipped, comfortable with their characters.
Don’t get me wrong, I would personally love something more that I can do with my primals but that doesn’t mean I have anything against the current methods, drop rates, etc.

Let’s get to it.

Some ideas:

  • Salvaging Primals Ancients has a % chance to reward Primal Essence
  • Primal Essence can be used for Crafting / Kanai recipes
    which can include:
    - Reforging a Primal without losing it’s “primal” state. ( 1-5 essences
    including the usual amount of bounty materials and forgotten souls
    )
    - Reforging a non-primal results in a higher chance of getting the item
    you want into it’s primal version.
    ( primal essence + all bounty mats + forgotten souls )
    - A new option to convert Primal Essences into 2-4k of
    each crafting material
    ( not including bounty materials )
    - A new option to infuse a potion of choice with a primal essence thus
    resulting in the potion gaining 1-2 additional effects from other potions
    ( making them a bit more relevant in some cases? )
  • Maybe relevant? - > Primal Puzzle Ring / Bovine Bardiche with increased
    chance of rewarding a primal.
  • Odious Collector has a small chance of dropping a Primal Essence.
    ( as much as other goblins have a chance of dropping a primal )

Please, feel free to share your own ideas and thoughts. :slight_smile:

  • What do you think will be beneficial and feel more rewarding for the player base?
  • Which of these could be implemented and how would they impact the gameplay we know so far?
  • Some of you may consider this to be an unnecessary fuss over something that others consider a waste of time to farm but just have a calm head about this.
  • Personally, as I wrote above, have no problem with the current methods of obtaining primals. I’d load up a movie, farm bounties for indefinite amount of time and then reforge to my heart’s content.

You don’t need primals to be “somewhat well quipped” at least in season. If you have a good deal of ancient items you’re well equipped.

About your suggestions: it would be much simpler to ask for an increased drop chance for primals. Like one in a hundred instead of one in four hundred as it is now.

Why not just let us put three primals in the cube and get one new?
Three rings give a ring,three weapons give a weapon…
Two rings and a armor gives 66% chance of a ring and so on…
Just my thought about it:)
