QoL Feedback: Primal ancients and salvaging

You know the feeling of farming GRs, you’ve got all the gear you need so 99%+ of legendaries get salvaged and because you want to go fast you salvage them almost instantaneously (click+Enter spam) after looking whether it’s an ancient/primal worth keeping.

However, sometimes I go too fast and salvage a primal by accident… which feels kinda bad. Tonight’s unlucky primal was an actual good item for my off-spec.

Now I know primals have this red box outline and a slightly different background, but tbh I find this very hard to see. Especially along with the box outline of a newly picked up legendary (which would be my entire bag after some GRs).

Of course this could be prevented to just salvage stuff slower (so spare me the retrospect), but it would really be a great QoL improvement to have one of the following things implemented:

  1. I like this idea the best: salvaging a primal requires you to type “DELETE” or something like that (only for primals). This way you’re 100% conscious that you’re about to salvage a primal you may never see again. Hell make it an option (like Elective Mode) so the confident people among us can go even faster and have no reason to complain about this additional step.

.

  1. IGNORE, see below comment Jazz. an option at the blacksmith to salvage all non-ancient/primal legendaries, leaving just stuff worth looking at.

An option to “salvage all non ancient/non primal” by the blacksmith would open up for a world of pain and agony because many items are so difficult to get good rolls on that an ordinary legendary is far better than any ancient/primal you’re ever going to see (for season at least).

.

  1. change the colour of primals to set it apart from other legendaries. It’d have to be something different than a slightly altered shade of the same colour though (No orange-ish vs red-ish, green/yellow, blue/purple etc.) Colour blind modes do this and they’ve never helped me in other games.

.

  1. a pop-up on screen that you’ve found a primal, much like you get when finding an item for the first time. Make it sparkly or something so it jumps out from a new discovery. I’d prefer one of the other options though as I imagine this will have its own/similar problems.

Given how rare primals are you could play another 1000 hours and never see the same primal drop again. I’d really appreciate my 1st suggestion.
At the very least I hope this is taken into consideration for Diablo 4 if there will be a similar thing with different quality types of the same rarity of loot.

Please Blizzard save me from this go-fast-leave-disappointed pitfall

We’ve all salvaged something by mistake (plus made lots of other stupid mistakes) so we just have to live and learn and get over it.

you´re right actually about that suggestion of mine, normal legendaries with X%-Y% dmg modifiers can be very hard to roll better even as ancient. So I will remove that suggestion

I disagree that you have to get over these kind of mistakes if there is something that can be done about it. Why would you not want something like my 1st suggestion, this only applies to primals and could even be an option that can be turned off to keep it the same as it is now.

I’m already over the primal I salvaged, but it seems a lazy argument to keep it this way just because it is this way now and we’ve all done it.

Through the years there have been many suggestions about having an “undo” button to recover items salvaged by mistake. So it doesn’t look like it’s something that’ll be implemented.
It’s also been suggested that it should be possible to lock items so that once locked you can’t salvage them without unlocking them.
Since most primals are useless anyway it would be far better to have some sort of safe guarding or safe keeping any item because you’re more likely to salvage a useful non primal than a useful primal.
Nothing wrong with your suggestion to make primals stand out visually even better than now.

lol. For once I agree with this guy and understood him. Some regular ancients are actually better than some Primal. I still wear some regular items in my char since their stat are good and the one I needed.

However there might be a way to save time for recycling those junk legendary items. AFTER you have used the book to show all the items, maybe user can hover them and check which one he wants to keep and lock on it or something and then go to blacksmith and click on that button that we used to press and all the non locked items will get deleted at once.

I do agree that it is annoying to recycle when your inventory is full. Sometime you are in rush and trying to click everything as fast as possible since you don’t want to hold up your parties waiting. Sometime I could have clicked on the actual items that I am wearing which would give me heart attack.

That is another thing, can they put the lock on the items that you are wearing and they cannot be deleted. Only the items in the inventory can be deleted. It is rare but sometime it can happen.

İm shocked! forum governor meteor didnt written anything yet!
