It would be fun if you at Blizzard opened a competition where we fans get to create the best rift map /greater rifts maps and you choose the (10-20) best made rift maps that can then be added to the map pool.
As it is right now, I feel like most of us who play have seen these greater rift maps and regular rifts a number of times and it’s time for something new, I understand that Blizzard doesn’t have time to sit around making maps and then there’s the chance for us fans to create for you? =)
No criticism but this is unlikely to happen. Blizzard is very protective about their software - their IPs (intellectual Properties). Also the main focus is on D4.
Another thing is that the “endgame” in D3 is about getting as high as you can in greater rift levels, to the point of where you have to “fish” for the best maps with the best monster compositions to clear in time (and preferably as fast as possible).
I find it strange how we can still play if D3 is not that important to them? What’s the point of Blizzard paying a lot of money to servers where D3 is located? If not, will there be new patches? I think Blizzard has something in mind for D3 in the near future!
The more we write to Blizzard about what we would like to see new in D3, the more they will pick up ideas and create. Blizzard said about D2 that we have stopped development 2015, and will only release ladders, going forward, but then the news came about (Diablo2 resurrected - 2021) and so something new and new patches were released.
D3 has been patched too and is still maintained (in maintenance mode). I guess there is still some income from it… from players getting banned for botting and buying new accounts each season?
If you look at the American D3 forum there has been massive protests and wishes from the community over the recent years but to no avail. Of course nobody can tell the future
