Season 18, Squirts Necklace and Personal Leaderboards

Season 18 has been good to me, and it was all made possible by patch 2.6.6 and the introduction of the new Squirt’s Necklace.

I originally started Season 18 deciding to again play a Wizard after a long hiatus, but soon changed my mind at around character level 9 or so. So I deleted that wizard and started another Monk.

Now I usually try to balance damage output and damage mitigation with my heroes, but Season 18 provided me with an opportunity to try something different. So against my better judgement I made a mental note to use Squirt’s Necklace and the Bastions of Will rings (Focus & Restraint) alongside Inna’s Mantra.

I at first thought that the use of Squirt’s will be difficult, because it literally turns your hero into a glass cannon. But that is what I wanted, going for a pure damage build compared to my usual choices.

It is done!

Season 18, thanks to some really lucky item drops and the new Squirt’s Necklace, has proven to be my best yet as I’ve broken all my own previous records in terms of in-game data.

I won’t bore you with the details, but if you like, you can go over to the Prometheus Diablo 3 Portal to see a comparison of all my previous Diablo 3 Season records.

It’s almost a pity that Diablo 3 is in maintenance mode and won’t see much new content. But if we can see more game-changing additions like Squirt’s Necklace, then there is sure to still be a long road ahead of playing Diablo 3.

Off-Topic: Pardon the plug for my own website, but I figured since it is Diablo related, it wouldn’t be breaking the forums rules. It’s not a very good site (yet) as I’m new to website design and still learning.

Did you miss the PTR 2.6.7 blog?

They’re fixing Squirt’s Necklace so that standing in environmental damage doesn’t make you lose the stacks (even if you were shielded and shouldn’t have been damaged).

There are completely new set armours for Monk and Crusader.

Massive changes to Barbarian items / Whirlwind set.

A fun season theme based on killstreaks.

As Season 18 ends on Sunday 10th November, that means Season 19 should hopefully be starting on Friday 15th or 22nd, with 2.6.7 going live Tuesday 12th or 19th.

I don’t really wanna scorn or critizise you Prometheus because I think everybody have the right to play the game the way they want and it’s also positive that you contribute to the forum… but… reaching GR level 75 in season 18 with about 1K paragons??

Actually, I got to GR75 at Paragon 800 or thereabout…

No, I didn’t. When I said “won’t see much new content”, I meant things like major additions such as maps and new hero classes…

I got mine at PL586 (and finished Guardian)…

(I didn’t go any higher as there was nothing of interest in S18 for me other than obtaining the cosmetics)

That’s also why I didn’t go above GR75. Once I got there, I concentrated on reaching and exceeding other stats.

It’s been a blast doing so. I’m looking forward to Season 19 and trying out a Barbarian again, which I haven’t played to any great extent since D3 Vanilla days…

If they don’t nerf what was on the PTR, rest assured playing Barb will put a massive smile on your face.

I watch the Filthy Casual video on the S19 Whirlwind Barbarian, and it does indeed look good.

This might turn out to be the one time that I follow a “prescribed build”. We’ll see what happens come Season 19 and how much luck I have with drops and property rolls.

See you in Season 19!

I already do GR85 on my very-averagely-geared WW Barb, what more should I expect from Season 19 ?

10 to 20 higher…
