Shield with socket or not?

Is having a shield without a socket bad for using the passive finery? I found a really good Jekangbord and I get extra damage from the 10% crit chance but I can roll that slot into a socket and put a gem in there. Is the bonus more beneficial by using finery or is the 10% crit chance on the shield better?

I looked at your Condemn Crusader…

…and you’ll absolutely benefit more from 10% CHC on your shield than having a socket in it and gaining 1.5% STR from the Passive.

Your Crusader with its current equipment…

Condemn / Vacuum Damage = 28,030,557,473

Your Crusader with shield socket changed to 10% CHC…

Condemn / Vacuum Damage = 30,870,061,197

I forgot to mention I am going to be doing a blessed shield build, but I will go with the shield without the socket then for sure. I’m sure the math will still favor the CHC shield over the socket even with the blessed shield build.

Yeah sockets are not worth having on a shield i.m.o, even considering the Finery passive. The last shield affix i usually use after vitality and crit chance is either block chance (if i’m using the Justice Lantern ring), CDR or RRC, or a +10-15% damage bonus to a certain skill if that’s where all my damage is coming from. If none of those are useful, shields still roll slightly higher bonus life at up to +18% i think, either that or more all res.
There are actually a bunch of affixes that are all more useful than a socket i think.

cool, thanks for the replies
