Dear Devs,
Could you please change that splodge sound that happens at the end of a Greater rift, when a gem fails to upgrade?
It makes me want to put my fist through the screen.
Thanks.
Dear Devs,

Especially when you fail a 90% after spending around 200 million on empowerment!
I have given up on empowerment. Once, and i am not making this up, I had 5 fails on 80%.
i almost put my fist through the screen then.

The chance of all five rolls failing at 20% failure rate = (1/5)^5 = 1/3125
Now that sounds terrible to an indvidual player because they’ve just experienced something that should, on average, only occur once every 3125 GRs they do. However, this is an overall average for every single player doing GRs. So, just how infrequently should this occur?
Some players will be faster, some will be slower, but let’s assume an average of 5 minutes per GR.
So, for an individual player, this should occur once per (3125 * 5) minutes, which is once per 15,625 minutes, which is roughly 260 hours.
But what about all the other players that are all doing GRs like this and attempting 80% upgrades?
If there were 10 players, this would occur to one of them once per 1562.5 minutes.
If there were 100 players, this would occur to one of them once per 156.25 minutes.
If there were 1000 players, this would occur to one of them once per 15.625 minutes.
If there were 10,000 players, this would occur to one of them once per 1.5625 minutes.
So, with 10,000 players, this result would happen to one of them roughly once every 94 seconds.
Does greater rift completing time affect gem upgrading luck?
No not at all. The speed can affect what higher GR levels you’re allowed to select though. Don’t have the exact numbers (Meteor will have them) but if your highest available GR is like 120 and you finish it with plenty of time remaining you’ll then be able to choose something like three levels (or perhaps more) higher after that. If you finish with about a minute left you’ll only be able to select a GR 121 next time.
What I would like for this game is that the powers/abilities to be toned down somewhat. I’m not in it for the constant grind – I like storyteller mode. I would very much like to play on Normal but without insta-killing everything, and have a remotely sane drop-rate for items, much like D1 and D2.
Too bad this game cannot be modded (no, I don’t play MP other than couch co-op with my wife).
Indeed…
| Completion Time | Time Remaining | Grants access to |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 5 minutes | Over 10 minutes | 3 additional GR levels |
| 5 to 10 minutes | 5 to 10 minutes | 2 additional GR levels |
| Over 10 minutes | Under 5 minutes | 1 additional GR level |
It should also be noted that if you complete a Nephalem Rift you unlock the GR equivalent level by doing so, i.e. if you complete a Torment 16 Nephalem Rift this is the equivalent of a GR75, and thus immediately grants you access to GR75 without having to rise through any of the previous GR levels to unlock it.
Here’s a suggestion.
Mute the game if you dislike parts of the sound system.
Nooo! Because I actually like the music, the sound effects, and the things that the enchantress says (and the other followers)
I’ll just turn the speakers off during gem upgrade, so I don’t get mad.

Being honest here, I haven’t played the game with sound on since Season 17 xD
I should probably turn it on once in a while but then I can’t listen to my preferred music.
But yeah, I think I muted the game for that reason.
