I don’t know for how many seconds the effect works. It’s not worth using it anyhow. Before the follower rework with emanation Ess of Johan was mostly used. Now Flavor of Time is the best.

I wanted to use it for the demon hunter.
tbh I dont like squirts necklace, I loose the buff a lot when doing high GRs so I thought maybe change it for that amulet.
Is it possible to freeze and charm at the same time?

Even if you lose the Squirt stacks a lot Squirt is still the best choice. That’s what the experts say at least. You still need one with at least half decent stats of course. When you hit a Shield Pylon you have two minutes of 100% extra power and even with a few stacks up the amulet is more powerful than most other amulets. It’s also recommended that a Fortress Ballista hand crossbow can be used to have more Squirt uptime (or when you get better at avoiding losing stacks all the time).
Of course an Overwhelming desire can be used, or an Ess of Johan (because it can pull monsters together) or another amulet with good stats.
I actually don’t really know if a monster can be frozen and charmed at the same time! When I google about it the effect it has seem to be much less than you would expect. The effect is a hard CC (meaning monster can grow immune to it) with an internal cool down and a short duration etc.

What build are you playing? Some builds utilize the endless walk set with travelers pledge as an amulet and compass rose.
Indeed the squirts amulet is usually the best nowadays. If you are determined to not use squirts, probably the second best option is the hellfire amulet that you craft using some materials that drop from infernal machine bosses. It gives you a fifth passive. Trying to craft a good one is usually not easy as you need both a good passive that helps you and also correct stats.

I played with overwhelming desire against malthael. He was enchanted and hypnotised then turned around on himself in a fit of rage and oneshotted himself.
