My actual first thought, while seeing the gameplay trailer was; am I watching a fan-made trailer, is it clips from another game?
When I realised this was actually D4, I felt super underwhelmed. Not only does the graphics look dated and weird, with unimpressive character models, but especially the shiny clay like textures all over just looks so uninteresting and pale - everything blends together and nothing stands out as interesting.
The UI looks so familiar with D3, which just emphasises my feeling of this just being a D3 re-skinning. The gameplay mechanics looks exactly the same as well, just with added climbing. Wow!
This feels so rushed. Even the presenters felt like not wanting to be on stage presenting the game.
The open world mmo-concept does not feel right, and they even mentioned they’re still trying to figure out how it should work - but the world is already based around it.
It feels like they’re NOT on a clear path with a solid vision of what the game should be, and that worries me.
Not hyped for this, as it looks and plays not at all. What a shame. What a legacy this company has ruined.

I was just wondering about how much new stuff there is in DIV compared to DIII and DII. It seems DIV is like remastered D2 with better graphic and climbing lol. Where are some original ideas that give players new gameplay experience? I think sometimes that more and more games are published, but they look similar to each other, with nothing new. D3 community actually forced AB to publish some new DIII game but it seems there isn’t much new to offer. Only remastered versions of games they made themselves. Remember a scandal with WIII reforged? That’s why community steps in to bring some solutions.
One more thing I want to mention is that it is not important the name of the company is blizzard-they were good 20 years ago, but not anymore. They changed. The employees that were very good at their job have vanished years ago. Today there is a new team that is not nearly that good as the team that made WIII frozen throne. Name of the company doesn’t mean anything if you have assembled bad team on your project-which means bad coworkers, people without any new ideas with bad cooperation and bad atmosphere. So gamers are losing trust in Blizzard Activision.
But, I believe that making a new game in 2000 isn’t nearly the same as making it today. I think it is much harder each year. It is easy to make a game, but it is very hard to make a really new original game with new ideas that everyone in the world will know about. Is the world running out of ideas? Have we seen everything there is to be seen? Are we meeting the limits of the gaming industry?
When a game is everything you’re hoping for before playing it, it’s going to be bad.
When a game is nothing what you were expecting before playing it, it’s probably - against all odds - going to be surprisingly good.
