Pokes the new forum

There are some things that are going to take some getting used to, especially Trust levels. Hitting Trust level 1 is fast, getting to TL 3 that lets you post GIFs, images, and outside links (something nobody could do on the old forums) takes more work and time. You can now easily track posts you care about and get notifications. There is a Blue Tracker as well. Also note, post counts were wiped. You start over and each forum for Blizz now has a separate counter, not the combined count the old forums had.

Here are some guides that Tech MVP WyomingMyst made for the other forum rollouts. This should help explain Trust Levels and some of the formatting features.

How to see your Trust Level

How to see your Trust Level.

Go into your Activity page, remove anything after your name-number and then add ā€œ.jsonā€ to the end of your name-realm like this:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d3/u/Maskraider-3992.json
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d3/u/Maskraider-3992.json

Taken from the WoW forum and adapted for our naming system. The link does not show any personal information when viewed by someone who is not logged into the account. So even if you see your personal info, it won’t display to others.

Okay, so I thought I’d take a look at my own trust level…

…and the results I got were browser-specific.

Using Chrome, I get a web page as described in the instructions.

Using Internet Explorer, I’m prompted to save a file. Once the file is downloaded, if I choose to open it, the .json file type has no association so you need to manually choose which application to open it with. I chose Notepad (and not to create a permanent file association) to view the contents and find the Trust Level text.

You may want to update the instructions.

I use Firefox and have had no issues…so it seems it is only an IE issue?

Thank you for sharing your testing.

IE11 and Chrome were the only two browsers I had access to. I’ll have access to a PC with Microsoft Edge on it tomorrow, so I’ll update with results of using that.

Hi there Zee. I have to admit, this forum is really really quiet! No wonder I see so many faces on the main US forum!

Maybe people go there first to get the trust levels going, and then get back here.
And yes, the general forum was getting more quiet - it could also be due to people going on holiday. -Hopfully the activity will rise when more topics are created :slight_smile:

I am new to Diablo 3, but I am excited to make new friends on the forums and in the game.

Many people tell me to get ā€œpowerleveledā€, but I am not sure I want that as I want to see the story-mode before I do anything else, and I hope that will get me to maximum level. :laughing:

I see that the American forums seem more lively, but I am sure that might be because it’s been night here in the EU? :sparkler:

Can players from Norway play in American servers? Must one buy a new game to do that? Is there more players in America than in the EU?

Your existing D3 license enables you to play on the EU, America or Asia servers. Things to bare in mind are that progress is region specific, you can’t transfer heroes between regions and that if you’re physically based somewhere in Europe, you’ll most likely have higher latency if you play on the Americas or Asia servers.

As for being new. Taking your time with your very first hero and experiencing the Campaign storyline is probably a good thing. By the time you finish Act V, you’re likely to be around level 50. Once the Campaign is finished, I’d suggest switching to Adventure Mode, as the XP earned there is far superior to that in Campaign Mode and will get you to level 70, where all the nice gear is.

Thank you.

I think I will just continue to play in the character I am already using then. I picked a witch doctor.

I really am enjoying my new game a lot, and I have gotten to the desert place now. Haha, I will probably return with more questions when I finish the entire zones.

Thank you for reading and replying. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Glad we can still change our Avatar icons. Still wish though we could use a custom avatar. I always like to use Skeletor from Masters of The Universe…

What a bizarre convoluted way to see your trust level jeez bliz u guys are weird!

This sort of stuff went out with win 3.1 LOL

Yep. Even going back many many years, forums have had systems that award ā€œtrustā€ type categories. Normally those are represented by titles or stars next to a name.

Examples:
0 = Initiate
1 = Apprentice
2 = Craftsman
3 = Artisan

Using stars under the name would work too. One star for each TL earned.

That is a good idea, that way it would be much easier to track ones own and other peoples progression and level.

Part of me wishes everyone was equal in this, and could post images and so on, but I suppose it makes sense to make it a red apple to read and participate as well.

im minded of seasonal objectives to get the stash tab, now its forum objectives to get the trust level!!

go bliz go ^^

im aiming for level 4!!! oh it doesnt exist yet darn

Sadly people have used that kind of ability to link to bad websites with malware, inappropriate content, etc. That is why clickable links and embedding images/video has to be earned.

Thanks MB for my first Like. I ā€˜like’ the fact we can see who is ā€˜liking’ posts and feel it would be interesting to see who is also disliking posts, but alas we can no longer do that ^^

oh pity too we cant see who is liking other people posts, i ā€˜dislike’ that!

You can. Click the number next to the :blue_heart: and it will show the icons of who liked it. Mouse over the icons to see the name of the poster.

Oh, that’s handy. I know there are some folks over on the US forums that have multiple accounts. This would show if they’re up-voting their own posts by clicking the heart with their alts.
